North Sea carbon capture and storage tests mark UK first The first tests for carbon capture and storage in the UK are taking place off the coast of East Anglia. Oil and gas company Perenco has begun the country’s first carbon dioxide (CO2) injection test for carbon capture and storage in the Southern North Sea. The Perenco CCS (Carbon Storage) test involves CO2 being injected into a depleted natural gas reservoir in the Leman gas field, located 30 miles (48 kilometres) off the coast of Great Yarmouth. Carbon capture and storage prevents carbon dioxide produced by industry from being released into the atmosphere, by capturing and storing it underground…. https://lnkd.in/eHmnv3uH

RWE launches offshore wind farm apprenticeship programme The energy firm is offering young people the chance to work on one of the UK's largest wind farms located off the Suffolk coast, providing a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the renewable energy sector. The announcement comes during National Apprenticeship Week, highlighting the importance of apprenticeships in shaping the future workforce and supporting the UK’s transition to clean energy. RWE has launched new apprenticeship positions across the UK, including one at Galloper Wind Farm, which are now open for applications. The company’s NVQ Level 3 Wind Turbine Technician apprenticeship scheme first launched in 2012 to generate skilled wind technicians who could meet the growing needs of the offshore wind sector.
