  • ⚙️ We’re at the forefront of repowering efforts across our older onshore wind sites, and it’s vital that the UK develops a comprehensive policy for life extension in offshore wind as well – particularly as up to 1/3 of offshore sites could reach the end of their original design life by 2035.   It's been a great opportunity to help shape this excellent RenewableUK report and we look forward to contributing to further discussion around its key recommendations 💚

  • As the primary piece of our East Anglia Hub Development, East Anglia ONE is our largest offshore windfarm. Spanning 300 km², equivalent to 40,000 football pitches, this vast area hosts 102 Siemens Gamesa offshore turbines, generating 714 MW of clean, renewable energy—enough to power over 700,000 homes 🏡 Over the next decade, East Anglia ONE will be joined by three additional windfarms—EA THREE, EA TWO and EA ONE North,—forming the East Anglia Hub. Collectively, they have the potential to generate over 3.5 GW of wind energy, increasing the number of homes powered to nearly 3.5 million. Through initiatives like these, we are propelling the UK renewables industry forward, leading the nation towards a cleaner, greener future 💪

  • 🌊 Understanding the potential impacts of offshore wind development on marine birds is a critical part of our work. This week marks the start of a new phase of study by the Offshore Wind Strategic Monitoring and Research Forum and JNCC. Phase III will continue to tackle issues related to UK offshore wind development across the UK, aiming to identify evidence gaps and high-priority research to improve understanding of ecological impacts on marine bird populations. We've supported OWSMRF since its inception in 2019, and look forward to participating in this next phase work through to 2026 💚 Learn more about the Forum here 👉 https://lnkd.in/eKy8_Dgj

🌊 🚀 Phase 3 of the Offshore Wind Strategic Monitoring and Research Forum (OWSMRF) is now live! Working with a range of UK-wide experts, this collaborative partnership will take a strategic look at future potential ornithological issues in all UK marine regions, helping to identify important research that addresses key knowledge gaps about the potential ecological effects of large-scale offshore wind development on marine bird populations. OWSMRF III is funded by EDF (UK), Equinor, Ørsted, ScottishPower Renewables, SSE Renewables and TotalEnergies, with delivery by JNCC 🔗 https://lnkd.in/eKy8_Dgj #OffshoreWind #Renewables #MarineBirds #Ornithology #TurningScienceIntoAction #ForNaturePeoplePlanet

  • Our Ecologists discovered a wee tim'rous beastie at our Carland Cross Windfarm recently 🐭 The Harvest Mouse, or 'Rabbie' as he's been nicknamed in a nod to Rabbie Burns himself, was spotted nesting near the control building on site. And the Cornwall Mammal Group have since conducted surveys which have indicated the tiny rodent is thriving there 💚 Read more here 👉 https://lnkd.in/eHinSQab #HarvestMouse #Ecology #TimorousBeastie #RabbieBurns #Ecology
