𝗦𝗮𝗳𝗲𝗴𝘂𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗲𝘁 𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗘𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗰 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝘂𝗺 🦺 This year's World Economic Forum focuses on 'Safeguarding the Planet' with an overarching theme of 'Collaboration for the Intelligent Age'. 𝗚𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 🌍 Damilola Ogunbiyi, CEO and Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Sustainable Energy for All, emphasized the unstoppable momentum of global collaboration, stating that no single country or leader can halt this progress as it is the right thing to do globally. Simon Stiell, Executive Secretary of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, warned that any retreat from climate action would create a void that others would fill. 𝗖𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 ☁️ The forum highlighted the urgent need to accelerate climate action, particularly in mitigation and adaptation, to address the worsening effects of climate change. The growing costs of inaction and the necessity for businesses to move beyond setting targets to implementing concrete climate-related actions were underscored. 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲'𝘀 𝗥𝗼𝗹𝗲 🌳 Sherry Madera, CEO of CDP, stressed that 'Earth-positive action' is now a business imperative, not just a desirable goal. Kicked off our first team meeting of the year! Such a pleasure to be part of International Biodiversity Consultants Ltd, where diverse expertise comes together to drive meaningful biodiversity solutions. Last year, I had the opportunity to lead a project at IBC focused on identifying companies and their affiliates operating in global biodiversity hotspots. We assessed both the potential and existing impacts of over 900 companies on biodiversity while guiding responsible investment strategies. This was my first experience working at the intersection of #businessXbiodiversity, and while it was encouraging to see private sector interest in conservation, it also highlighted the need for more support to help businesses make a #BiodiversityPositive transition. Often, despite intent, the lack of guidance can hinder meaningful action. This year, IBC is looking forward to expanding our efforts with some exciting new projects and collaborations already in the pipeline.
