  • Get away from it all in Jubilee Gardens just 30 seconds from Crystal Palace Triangle 🌱 Earlier this year Invisible Palace and Crystal Palace Park Trust held a community planting day here joined by a wonderful team of volunteers. The new planting scheme was created by Invisible Palace gardener Zoë Buckney. The planting is now more sustainable, with perennial plants that will provide year-round seasonal interest and food for pollinating insects. Do stop by - it’s just inside the gates to Crystal Palace Park at the top of Anerley Hill. Invisible Palace and Crystal Palace Park Trust will be working together to organise more sessions for our community in the coming months.

  • Monday’s rain and moody light really brought out the texture in the statue representing Turkey in Crystal Palace Park. This statue is one of the great survivors of the series of 24 statues that once stood on the Upper Terrace representing the most important commercial and manufacturing countries in the world, made by very well-known sculptors of the day. ‘Turkey’ was made by Carlo Marochetti and originally held a scimitar in his hands. Marochetti also made ‘Greece’, ‘India’ and ‘Egypt’. We researched these statues as part of our Sculptures of Crystal Palace Park project involving local people in exploring the hidden histories in the park. 🔗 You can find out more about this project on our website: https://lnkd.in/eZZjc5ec #heritage #sculpture #history

  • During the school summer holidays, six children took part in Summer Camp at My Aerial Home supported by our Defy Gravity social circus project 🎪 This project helps young people build confidence, resilience, creativity and tolerance while trying new things. Activities included flying trapeze, Chinese pole, hoop, silks, juggling, hula hoop, and acrobalance! Sessions were offered at an affordable rate and included an offer of transport. The project offers a year-round primary school programme and sessions for youth groups, and it’s funded by The National Lottery Community Fund's Reaching Communities programme. #YoungPeople #charity #London
