About us
The Isaac Newton Institute for Mathematical Sciences is a national and international visitor research institute. It runs research programmes on selected themes in mathematics and the mathematical sciences with applications over a wide range of science and technology. It attracts leading mathematical scientists from the UK and overseas to interact in research over an extended period. INI has a vital national role, building on many strengths that already exist in UK universities, aiming to generate a new vitality through stimulating and nurturing research throughout the country. During each scientific programme new collaborations are made and ideas and expertise are exchanged and catalysed through lectures, seminars and informal interaction, which the INI building has been designed specifically to encourage.

📢 Applications are still open for the upcoming "Recent challenges in the mathematical design of new materials" follow-on workshop. The one-week workshop will aim to bring together some of the participants of the 2019 programme in order to explore the progress achieved since the programme, reinforce interactions between participants and generate new developments, particularly through the inclusion of younger participants that did not necessarily attend the 2019 programme, but were influenced by it through being in the teams of the participants, and working on relevant, related ideas in the recent years. Application Closing Date: Sunday 20th April 2025 🔗 For more information and to apply, see here: https://lnkd.in/ebkcqPyi #IsaacNewtonInstitute #CambridgeUniversity #UniversityOfCambridge #cambridge University of Cambridge Newton Gateway to Mathematics KE Hub Academy for the Mathematical Sciences International Centre for Mathematical Sciences (ICMS) Faculty of Mathematics, University of Cambridge

📣 Mark your calendars! We're excited to announce our participation in this year's Cambridge Festival. Join British Mathematician and author, Professor Sarah Hart, for an exclusive exploration of "Life in Lilliput – The Mathematics of Fictional Realms" at the Isaac Newton Institute on Saturday 22nd of March at 11 am. From legendary giants to the tiny Lilliputians, literature thrives on strange dimensions. But what if these worlds were more than just stories? Could the giant spiders of Hogwarts, or the miniature Borrowers, be real? Sarah will unravel the mathematical mysteries behind these tales and imagine the lives of these fantastical beings. This is a rare glimpse into the intersection of mathematics and imagination! 👉 Secure your FREE tickets now: https://lnkd.in/en8bDHBN #CamFest #CambridgeFestival #Cambridge #CambridgeUniversity #WhatsOnCambridge #VisitCambridge #isaacnewtoninstitute #newtonMHM2025 Birkbeck, University of London University of Cambridge Faculty of Mathematics, University of Cambridge Newton Gateway to Mathematics KE Hub Academy for the Mathematical Sciences
