Helping young people achieve

About us

The Jon Egging Trust (JET) was set up in honour of Flt Lt Jon Egging, who tragically lost his life on the 20th August 2011 whilst completing an air display at the Bournemouth Air Festival; he was coming to the end of his first year with the world-famous Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team, the Red Arrows. Jon was passionate about inspiring young people through his love of flying and his enthusiasm for teamwork and leadership. The Jon Egging Trust was set up to realise his dream by Jon’s wife Dr Emma Egging, his mother Dawn Egging, childhood friend James Godley and former Red Arrow’s pilot Ben Plank. We have developed an exciting and unique youth engagement programme – Blue Skies – which provides new opportunities to help disadvantaged young people achieve their full potential. Following the huge success of our pilot Blue Skies project in Lincolnshire in 2012, JET now works in nine regions across the U.K.: Lincolnshire, East Anglia, Dorset, Hampshire, Oxfordshire, Wiltshire, North Wales, Cornwall and the West Midlands. We have also developed a second youth engagement initiative: Inspirational Outreach. We deliver both schemes in conjunction with our partners from the worlds of aerospace and STEM. The Jon Egging Trust believes that all young people should have the opportunity to realise their potential and be the best they can be.
