Last Wednesday, our A1 Physics students had the exciting opportunity to dive into the world of Astrophysics, thanks to a visit from National Space Academy. Students took part in several workshops investigating spectroscopy and its use to analyse the light from stars and how astronomy has developed our understanding of the universe. The day culminated with an investigation into the physics of human spaceflight and its impact on the human body. We hope this experience has sparked curiosity about the cosmos and inspired our students to think big. Who knows — perhaps one day we’ll see a Greenhead astronaut among the stars! #Opportunities #Astrophysics

Proud to announce a successful Lockheed Martin Space Camp 2024! 🚀 During half term, Lockheed Martin hosted 60 students (ages 10 to 17) for an unforgettable week of space exploration at Northumbria University, with inspiring talks from space industry professionals, hands-on activities led by the National Space Academy, and fantastic on-site support from Northumbria’s team. Huge thanks to Viasat for co-hosting and RTC North STEM team for helping us reach so many schools, and my incredible support team at Lockheed Martin—couldn’t have done it without you! As the lead event manager, it was absolutely worth the months of planning to see these young minds light up with excitement, curiosity, and a new passion for space. Here’s to inspiring the next generation of space leaders! #SpaceCamp #STEM #LockheedMartin #Viasat #NextGenInnovators #NorthumbriaUniversity Jacqueline Lucas Ben Shaw Josh Minto Antonio Portas Professor Carol Davenport Em Truman Josh Barker Robin Mobbs Harry Hawkeswood Jamie Nee Preeya Lakhani Jessica Murphy John O'Connor Asha Parmar Dr. J. Wonderful to be part of this and to be working with the excellent Jon Egging Trust!
Reaching for the stars ⭐ In the run up to #WorldSpaceWeek we delivered a fascinating and very energetic space-themed Inspirational Outreach day for around 90 Lincolnshire students, supported by our partners at National Space Academy and Gordon Brothers. Hosted by the National Space Centre, our year 7 students dove into a dynamic day of teamwork, communication and space-themed challenges. To keep everyone on their toes, students moved across a round-robin of activities throughout the day. From engineering rocket-resistant egg-armour (yes really!), to interactive space challenges, and a fast-paced (and loud!) live auction event which built on teamwork and communication skills, our students had a fantastic day honing transferrable employability skills and unlocking a world of space opportunities! We are grateful to our partners at NSA and Gordon Brothers for helping us deliver a such a unique and inspirational session. #spacetolearn #worldspaceweek #worldspaceweek2024 #joneggingtrust #blueskies #youthcharity #inspirationaloutreach #STEM #space
