Dedicated volunteers collect your trees, turning them into vital funds for local charities and inspiring communities to come together. Not only that, but the trees are chipped down and recycled and used in purposeful ways in your local area: in local parks, habitats, zoos, gardens, biochar, coastal erosion prevention and much more! At this recent Social Value Networking event, we had the privilege of presenting our journey at Just Helping. Georgia Vacher and Alexandra Lucy Bryer highlighted how we've been driving change across the UK, with a special focus on Greater Manchester. From recycling initiatives to fostering community engagement, our work is proof that sustainability and social responsibility go hand in hand. 💪 One of our proudest achievements? This year's national Christmas tree-cycling event. By saving over 1 million kg of CO2 emissions and engaging more than 4,000 volunteers, we helped raise £1 million to support charities that make a real difference for people with life-limiting conditions across the UK. 💚🎄 Sustainability, community engagement and a positive impact - this is what social value looks like. Earth Day is celebrated annually on April 22nd to raise awareness of the environmental issues facing our planet and to encourage individuals, schools, businesses and governments around the world to take action to protect the world we live in. The theme for Earth Day 2024 is 'Planet vs Plastics'. We are proud to announce that our 2023 Christmas tree collection saved over 1 million kg of CO2e by chipping down 65,371 trees, preventing them from ending up in landfills. Discover the eco-journey of your recycled Christmas tree! 🌲 Here's the breakdown: Volunteers and the help of local horticultural companies chip your tree in green spaces, car parks or sports clubs. Chippings are repurposed: - Crafting paths in parks for vibrant community spaces. - Wood based infill enhances turf to maintain sports grounds and keep your community active. - Providing comfortable bedding for farm or zoo animals. - Creating wildlife habitats in nearby woodlands. - Some trees become renewable biomass fuel, a lower carbon heating option.
