Raising Mental Health Awareness and Suicide prevention

About us

Kelly's Heroes is the new name for 'We Mind & Kelly Matters' which was formed in 2019 after the devastating loss of our beautiful daughter, sister and friend taken from us way too young following her struggles with Mental Health. Unless you are affected or know someone struggling with Mental Health it’s difficult to understand. There is often still a stigma associated with it, leaving many to suffer in silence, our aim is to raise awareness and help to prevent suicide. We all have a role to play in looking out for friends, family and colleagues who may be suffering. Pay special attention to some of the warning signs and it could be that just a few nice words or listening to them could be saving their life. The support we have received from the very early days has been amazing. Kelly touched so many lives and will be in our hearts forever, but this charity is her legacy, we can’t let people suffer on their own with this awful illness. All fundraising, donations are used for the charity and to support local mental health initiatives, such as MIND. We truly appreciate every donation that has been made and everyone helping to share and raise awareness with us.

Last year we set out with the dream of being able to offer amazing adventures, available to everyone, no matter what experience you have. All whilst putting our ex-military hats on and looking at all the small details, which as a guide I know make and break these trips. This year we have had 73 clients experience adventures this us, including: •Ascents of Kilimanjaro •Ascents of Toubkal (Morocco) •Safaris through Tanzania Now it’s eyes onto 2025. We have brand new dates for trips throughout the year and are beginning to offer bespoke adventures and dates to match people’s availability. Both Samuel White and myself realised marketing isn’t our strength, so we have brought a new member of the team in to show us how it’s done. This brings me onto their first project launching Morocco Winter. Our first trip in 2025 on the 7th - 12th January. The idea for the trip was to be able to offer a safe mountain to climb in winter conditions. Meaning you can learn about wearing crampons and even using an ice axe in emergencies, in a safe environment. Let us know what you think of the video. If you or your business would like to work together, please let me know. www.legendexpeditions.com

  • Wow what a reminder - gifted by Legend Expeditions this beautiful framed momento has brought back so many highlights from what was an epic adventure. It’s been three weeks since I came down of that huge mountain and since then I’ve barely walked 5k as the fatigue hit home and recovery was priority. It’s been humbling to finally be able to do my own fundraiser for this incredible charity, that I believe truly does offer light in some people’s darkest days. My fundraising page will remain open until the end of the year so maybe instead of a Christmas card or that coffee shop cake please consider if you can help me round up the figure. My gratitude to everyone for all the messages of support, your likes follows and donations - thankyou 💗 https://lnkd.in/e6yCqKGC

  • Kelly’s Heroes attended the first webinar last night, a meeting of Project Leads for the Baton of Hope UK 2025, hosted by Mike McCarthy. We are incredibly excited to begin planning what we hope will be a prestigious event when the Baton of Hope comes through Northamptonshire on 20th September 2025. The 2025 tour will visit 20 counties, and we are honoured to be at the forefront of its journey through Northamptonshire. Our goal is to create a day filled with powerful conversations, community support, and meaningful action as we shine a light on suicide prevention. To ensure the success of this event, we are reaching out to local businesses, venues, and organisations for their support in planning an unforgettable day. The Baton will make key stops at various locations throughout Northamptonshire, culminating in a final event to mark the day’s significance. We are seeking local partners to help by hosting stops along the route, facilitating public engagement, and accommodating special guests, including celebrities, VIPs, and community leaders. The aim of the Baton of Hope is to: ✨ Boost the conversation around suicide prevention and help eliminate stigma. 🤝 Connect and collaborate with organisations already dedicated to saving lives. 📋 Summarise key suicide prevention steps that can be adopted by institutions and businesses. 🎓 Provide training and advice on best practices for suicide prevention in the workplace. 📍 Improve signposting for available support. 🔦 Highlight areas of action that lack adequate support. 💪 Positively challenge the current narrative around suicide prevention. To make this event as impactful as possible, we need venues and places of interest willing to host key moments of the tour. We also need partners who can provide in-kind support, such as equipment, stages, or other logistical necessities. If your business or organisation would like to contribute, we would love to hear from you. Please register your interest by messaging me or emailing me directly at sherry@kellysheroes.org.uk. Together, let’s create a national celebration of suicide prevention and ensure Northamptonshire plays a key role in this life-saving initiative. #PASSITON #SUICIDEPREVENTION #STAMPOUTSTIGMA #KELLYSHEROES

In September 2024, 16 intrepid climbers, including 15 from the glazing sector, joined forces to climb the tallest mountain in Africa, Mount Kilimanjaro, standing at 5,895m high. The climb was organised to raise money for the People in Glazing Society, aka PiGs Charity of the Year for 2024, mental health and suicide prevention charity, Kelly's Heroes Funds were also raised for two other charities close to two of the climbers' hearts in Harry's Pals and Severn Hospice In total, nearly £100,000 was raised for the three charities, with over £87,000 going to Kelly's Heroes. Enjoy and thank you xxx https://zurl.co/fXQT
