To celebrate #apprenticewednesday we visited some of our apprentices playing their part in delivering London's newest cultural destination, Olympia.  They talked about their experience so far, why they would recommend an #apprenticeship and gave their advice to anyone considering applying.  We really enjoyed hearing how much they are enjoying their roles, how their confidence has grown and how their chosen apprenticeship has helped them build #skillsforlife. If our apprentices have inspired you to kick start a career in construction then please visit our careers website at careers.laingorourke.com where we are actively recruiting for our professional apprenticeship programme and applications for our trade and technical roles will be opening soon. We completely agree with them - be brave, be yourself and just go for it! Thanks to William Hamblett, Rosie Humphries, Shante Sehajpal, Leah Duck, Daniel O’Sullivan and Mitchell Shepherd for taking part. #NationalApprenticeshipWeek #NAW2025 #Olympia OlympiaUK

  • This #NAW2025 we are proud to announce that our first cohort of trainee assembly specialists have started their apprenticeship at the Modern Methods of Construction Training Centre at Barnsley College. In response to the construction skills shortage and recognising the need to modernise the industry we worked with IfATE (Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education), in collaboration with T3 Training & Development and Barnsley College to develop a new apprenticeship that creates a highly skilled, digitally capable workforce to help transform sector productivity. The level 2 apprenticeship in construction assembly will provide the technical and digital skills required to assemble construction and engineering solutions that have been manufactured offsite. The new role will help build careers within our organisation and attract new talent to consider a career in construction. We are looking forward to following their journey as they progress. "This announcement is a significant step forward for the UK’s #nuclear industry. The clarity provided is precisely the sort of clear, unequivocal direction the industry needs. Having played a central role in delivering nuclear capacity at Hinkley Point C, we understand the complexities of these projects firsthand and these new measures, particularly around regulatory reform and streamlined planning, will be invaluable in ensuring future projects, like Sizewell C, can be delivered more efficiently and cost-effectively.    "This clear signal from government will unlock investment, create jobs nationwide for shared prosperity, including an ability to plan for long-term investment in apprenticeships, and ensure the UK can benefit from clean, locally supplied nuclear power for generations to come." - said our Group Chief Executive Officer, Cathal O'Rourke. Read his full quote in DESNZ's press release - link below.

We're introducing a new planning framework and removing the barriers to new nuclear ⚛️     Helping speed up the development of new nuclear technologies, streamline engagement with regulators and allow greater flexibility to deploy nuclear where it is needed such as closer to industrial clusters to help power and decarbonise them 🏭     The move will also support the creation of new jobs, unlock investment opportunities to boost economic growth and accelerate Britain to clean energy superpower status.     Read more 👇 https://lnkd.in/e-ZSYT48
