Delighted that we had a very successful event last week on 'Co-production methodologies' with over 100 attendees. The event was jointly coordinated by Leeds Social Sciences Institute and the Social Research Methods Centre (SRMC), which builds on the momentum of the University of Leeds Coproduction Network to highlight the growing interest and demand for this evolving field. I wish to thank all our excellent speakers who shared their knowledge, insights and experiences on how #Coproduction methods have a broad interdisciplinary scope of action and have become crucial in the research process and are a key consideration for securing funding. We are pleased to announce that Œcumene Spaces For Dignity is collaborating with the Leeds Architecture and Urbanism Research group at the University of Leeds on a new project: Deconstructing 'Scarcity' in Tataouine, Tunisia. The project will investigate the dynamics between #vernacular and formal hashtag #urban #systems and assess their impact on the region's overall #resilience by dissecting one of #Tataouine's vernacular landscapes. The team will co-produce #knowledge about Tataouine's unique landscape, collaboratively dissecting its vernacular #water #management system and evaluating how such socio-ecological systems contribute to the region's overall resilience. We thank Professor Gehan Selim for her collaboration and recognition of the significant impact this project will generate. We're excited about the insights this partnership will bring! We also commend the dedication of our team, Omar Al Riyami, Tesnim Larbi, and Amany Hamdany—whose efforts have been instrumental in bringing this project to life. “Listening Without Borders" is officially published. Thanks to @Maggie Kubanyiova and @Parinita Shetty for an exciting journey to take part among many contributors across geographies, disciplines, art forms and practices in a conversation which readers are invited to join. The book uses ‘listening' as an encompassing metaphor for attending to others, and asks what it takes for people to ethically encounter one another when practices, worldviews and imaginations clash. In my provocation, I interrogate the condition of shared living in divided and #segregated contexts and look at how people perceive their cities and urban life, and what determines their use of space and attitudes toward the public, shared, and integrated spaces of the city. Our new paper on 'Cultivating Ecomusuems Practices in China' has been published in the International Journal of Heritage Studies. We discuss why and how current approaches to #ecomuseum practices fall short in supporting sustainable heritage #conservation and #community development in China that have not fully embraced the principles of new #museology.
