I was proud to head to the Palace of Westminster today and represent Levidian at the ‘Driving Growth for the UK: Cambridgeshire and Peterborough’s Pivotal Role’ event organised by the Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Combined Authority.
On a wet and miserable day, it was heartening to hear the positivity surrounding prospects for the region, passion to embrace devolved powers to tackle critical issues, and the collective sense of purpose.
Here are my four key takeaways:
🤝 Collaboration and Partnerships:
The event showcased the power of partnerships – local, national, and global – as the region's "secret sauce" for innovation and progress. Levidian is a great example of this, collaborating with world-class organisations across the UK, Europe, Middle East, and US to push the boundaries of what’s possible with CCUS.
🌍 Global Competitiveness and Investment:
Embracing the region’s global playing field while supporting and leveraging its unique local ecosystem will be key to success. Comments from Chris Grigg, Chair of the National Wealth Fund, about enhancing capability to support specialist sectors, having an appetite to take more risks and accept lower returns to get deals done, and focusing on the Industrial Strategy were very welcome.
🏗️ Regional Growth and Infrastructure Development:
It’s clear that integrated infrastructure planning is critical to support regional growth across Cambridgeshire, Peterborough, and the Fens. Investments like Ely Junction and East West Rail have the potential to drive significant growth.
💡 Innovation and Talent:
Collaborating with the region's world-class universities and research institutions was recognised as being foundational to driving innovation and fostering talent.
Levidian is delighted to call Cambridge home, from our beginnings as Cambridge Nanosystems in 2012, to today, where our LOOP technology is supporting global decarbonisation efforts. Looking ahead, I’m excited about the region’s incredible potential and optimistic about the prospects for growth.
