London Basketball Association is thrilled to announce that our very own CEO, Tony Lazare has been nominated as one of the finalists for the UNSUNG HERO AWARD at the upcoming Active Westminster Awards 2024! 🎉 This nomination recognizes Tony's tireless efforts to use basketball as a tool for transforming the lives of young people in some of London's most deprived communities. The social impact of LBA's work is staggering - estimated at £18 million in social savings, all on an annual budget of just £265k. It's a true testament to the power of grassroots sports programs to drive positive change. From providing free weekly sessions, qualifying young people as referees, table officials and coaches (R.O.Cs) and even bridging corporate opportunities for the deprived community, the vision is so powerful and accomplishing this goal with the limited resources is so commendable.
