I did it! 🎉 This time last week, I set out on a grand tour of the country, travelling over 1,000 miles and visiting 6 cities, to meet and talk to 100 leaders of small and midsize businesses 🎯 Not only did I meet 100... I met 110 business leaders in total 🙌 During my travels: 👏 I met so many inspiring business leaders, who were incredibly generous with their time to talk to me. 👏 I heard lots of stories about how these businesses were navigating the challenging times we're in by investing in skills, apprenticeships and growth. 👏 I listened to loads of practical improvements that would encourage more more businesses to invest. I would never have been able to do what I did last week without the support of a huge number of people who organised visits to businesses, arranged roundtable discussions, drove me to and from places, and tried their best to keep me on schedule ⏰ Thank you all 🙏 Apprenticeships Department for Education Jacqui Smith FSB Westminster (Federation of Small Businesses) London Apprenticeship Ambassador Network London Chamber of Commerce and Industry Workwhile East of England Apprenticeship Ambassador Network ARU Peterborough North West Apprenticeship Ambassador Network The Juice Academy Western Training Provider Network (WTPN) South West Apprenticeship Ambassador Network Engine Shed Stephen Bashford West of England Mayoral Combined Authority Yorkshire and Humber Apprenticeship Ambassador Network Tracy Brabin West Yorkshire Combined Authority Henry Boot Construction South East Apprenticeship Ambassador Network (SEAAN) Portsmouth City Council Hampshire County Council East Hampshire District Council Be the Business #NAW2025 #Apprenticeships #SmallBusinesses

Reflections as #NAW2025 comes to a close🕥 One of my favourite my favourite parts of National Apprenticeship Week is the opportunity to go out and speak to students about potential career paths that can be of interest to them💭 A highlight for me was spending Thursday at Southgate School with years 10-13 🏫 From workshops to assemblies and conversations with aspiring apprentices, we had opportunity to learn from the younger generations who had so much passion and curiosity towards their futures 🌍 It was such a rewarding and wholesome experience‼️I remember how much I enjoyed hearing from current apprentices when I was at school so days like this remind me why it is so important to give back and share our own individual stories 🗣️There is so much room to inspire others Thank you to the teams who took part in making this day possible🙏🏾 London Apprenticeship Ambassador Network The Careers & Enterprise Company & Education Development Institute And for anyone who is wanting to pursue an apprenticeship route, my advice to you is to: ✏️Understand the organisation you want to work for and their values or principles ✏️Be audacious, take opportunities and don’t be afraid to step outside of your comfort zone ✏️Network! Don’t be shy to reach out to people in your desired industry or role ✏️Be confident in whatever you do ✏️Take setbacks or rejection as redirection 🛣️ (many current apprentices including myself experienced their fair share!)
