NEW VIDEO: ‘tis the season for joy and giving…thanks to the UK's freight industry. Europa Worldwide Group's distribution hub relies on the nearby #Dartford Crossing as it is the only route to the east of #London for the goods they carry between Europe and every corner of the UK, including turkeys for the dinner table and presents for under the tree. Congestion and delays at the Dartford Crossing adds huge cost all year round, and means staff are stuck on the road rather than at home with friends and family. The #LowerThamesCrossing will ease congestion by offering an alternative route over the Thames and is critical for their local hub and work across the whole country. This week, we held a Christmas party at our local offices with our Delivery Partner Balfour Beatty plc, for local residents from Re-engage #Thurrock & Age UK #Havering. Read more from Lauren Edmunds below and thanks to all those who took part! 🎄🎉🎅
To continue the festive celebrations this week, yesterday we held a Christmas tea party at the Lower Thames Crossing offices for local elderly residents from Re-engage #Thurrock & Age UK #Havering. We also had the pleasure of involving one our local SEND schools, Treetops to support and take part in the event. One group of students baked some lovely cakes for the afternoon tea and also attended the event to help serve their cakes to our visitors. Later on, another group of students attended the event and sang some songs to the attendees - this was such a lovely treat for all involved! We then finished off the afternoon with a game of bingo and a Christmas quiz. Events like these are so important for us to support, unfortunately the elderly community can feel quite socially isolated, especially during the Christmas season. We were so pleased to be able to bring them all together and provide them with a fun filled festive afternoon. Thank you so much to all the volunteers that helped out – Maya Registe Jasvir K Sandhu Mairead Jessop, Rebecca Handley, Natalie Curtis Nicole Preston MSc IEng MICE Keith Howell Annamarie Compton Stephen Jagger Lawrence Vasu - Chartered MCIPD Lucy Hanston & Tom Astley!

A big thank you to Maya Registe and Lauren Edmunds from our delivery partner Balfour Beatty plc for organising such a wonderful day supporting the Kidz Bank HQ Christmas Appeal. With 1,300 children to support this year, its great to know all gift tags were fulfilled. Thanks to the team for donating and making sure every child wakes up to a gift on Christmas morning.
🎄 What a festive and wholesome day we have had at the Lower Thames Crossing 🎄 This year we have been supporting the Kidz Bank HQ Christmas appeal. For the past 4 years they have been running their Christmas appeal to ensure all local children receive a gift on Christmas morning. What started with 300 children in 2021, increased to 500 in 2022, 800 in 2023 and sadly 1300 this year! Last month myself and Maya headed to the store and collected gift tags from their tree, each tag had the childs age, sex and their interests. It was amazing for us to return today to drop off the gifts that our colleagues kindly donated and to see that all the tags from the tree were gone and that each child will be receiving a gift this year! Thank you so much to everyone on the project that took a tag and supported this wonderful initiative to give back to those that need it the most during the festive period! Lastly, well done to Maya Registe for finding such an amazing charity and cause for us to support!

The #LowerThamesCrossing was proud to support #Gravesham and #Thurrock foodbanks last week, by volunteering at Tesco stores in Gravesend and Lakeside. Volunteers from our delivery partners Skanska and Bouygues Travaux Publics / Murphy encouraged shoppers to donate essentials like tinned food, UHT milk, and toiletries, while also spreading the word and encouraging shoppers to buy and donate ‘grab bags’ - your generosity shone through with an incredible 12 crates of food collected in just three hours! If you’d like to know more and support local foodbanks, please visit Gravesham Foodbank https://lnkd.in/d3fYQui3 and Thurrock Foodbank https://lnkd.in/enNWBJag.
