What a night! I hosted an exclusive private film screening last night. The energy in the room was truly uplifting, and it’s clear that the movement towards ethical business in our local community is gaining momentum 🏄♂️ The film ‘Responsible’ hasn’t been released in the UK yet so it was a real treat to bring it to friends in Bournemouth. The exploration of conscious and ethical business is close to my heart and increasingly vital in today's world. 🌍 Bringing together an incredible group of like minded individuals, entrepreneurs, community leaders, dreamers and doers who are passionate about reshaping the way we approach business was powerful! A heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended, engaged in the conversation, and shared your inspiring perspectives. As food price inflation hits a 40-year high, industry figures gathered at Westminster this week to launch our Food Security Position Paper, calling for immediate action to back homegrown UK food security 🚜 An increasing dependence on global supply chains, Covid-19, climate change, and geopolitical shocks has contributed to the highest levels of food price inflation in over 40 years. Over one in ten households are experiencing day-to-day food insecurity. Last year food inflation hit 19%, and nearly half of all food is imported. The Great South West - home to England’s largest fishing fleet and 1.24 million hectares of farmland - is a key player in securing the nation’s food future. Our region is primed to tackle the country’s food security challenges, and is already supporting 295,000 jobs across the agri-food supply chain and generating over £5.6 billion in gross value added (GVA) from food production. Michael Caines MBE, Michelin-starred chef and patron of Lympstone Manor Hotel, Restaurant and Vineyard in Devon, backs the need for action. He said: “With the right support, we can lead the way in creating a resilient, sustainable food system that benefits not just our region, but the whole country. As a champion for local, sustainable produce, I see the Great South West as a vital part of the UK’s food future.
