About us
The Marine Biological Association (MBA) is a learned society and one of the UK’s leading marine biological research institutes. Our mission is to promote scientific research into all aspects of life in the sea and to disseminate to the public the knowledge gained. In 2013 the MBA was awarded a Royal Charter in recognition of its long and eminent history and its status within the field of marine biology. In April 2018, the Continuous Plankton Recorder Survey (previously SAHFOS) merged with the Marine Biological Association, promising a stronger future for marine biology. An excellent day receiving fantastic hospitality in London - grateful to Eleanor Adamson and colleagues at the The Fishmongers' Company and Glyn Morgan at the ScienceMusic. It’s been a truly inspiring trip. Our ( Katrina Houghton Maya Plass ) next stop - The MemberWise Network conference where we look forward to making new and old connections. #MX2024
Nearly 20,000 steps around London town today. Quick tour of The Fishmonger's Company to take in the fabulousness of the place and to meet some of the equally fabulous team there to talk past, present and future connections. Then an impromptu visit to the Science Museum to meet their Curatorial Lead who kindly squeezed in some time (and caffeine) to talk collections, conservation and curation. - oh and a few backward and forward tube rides - some intentional, some not so much!!
