This morning, our Joint Managing Director, Kathryn Greenwood, joined an insightful Sustainability Breakfast hosted by Nottingham Partners at The Jubilee Hotel & Conference Centre, a Nottingham Venues site. The event centered around Nottingham’s journey to Carbon Neutrality, showcasing the work local businesses are doing through collaboration to achieve the overall goal of reaching Net Zero by 2028. Kathryn, a board member at Nottingham Partners, found the panel of guest speakers from our client Archway Learning Trust, as well as insights from Nottingham Playhouse, Viridis Building Services Ltd, and CPMG Architects. Sustainability is no longer a nice-to-have but an essential for any growing business. Nottingham has an ambitious goal to become Carbon Neutral by 2028, which would make us the world’s second carbon neutral city. To reach this goal, businesses in our region will need to make efforts to reach net zero and help Nottingham lead the way in sustainability. We're delighted to announce the highly anticipated shortlist for the Nottinghamshire Tourism Awards 2025👏 Showcasing the exceptional businesses and individuals that elevate the region’s tourism and hospitality industry. Nearly 293,000 visitors have stepped through the doors of Nottingham’s Central Library in its first year👏 The flagship library, which was built as part of the wider Broad Marsh redevelopment, opened its doors in November 2023 and has gone from strength to strength. Tourism in Nottingham & Nottinghamshire Demonstrates Impressive Growth at £2.36 billion👏 Based on the latest 2023 STEAM tourism data measuring trends and impact of visitor economy in the region, #Nottingham and #Nottinghamshire have witnessed a significant increase, underlining the importance of tourism in driving local economic growth and job creation. The total value of tourism in Nottingham city and county in 2023 reached an outstanding economic impact of £2.36 billion, marking a 15.40% increase from the previous period. This reflects the rising appeal of the region as a top destination for both day and overnight visitors. In 2023, Nottingham and Nottinghamshire welcomed 34.33 million visitors, an increase of 4.12%. The average spend per visitor continues to climb as well, with an overall rise of 10.81% to £68.94 economic impact per trip. Tourism in Nottinghamshire continues to play a crucial role in supporting local employment. The sector currently sustains 22,437 full-time equivalent (FTE) jobs, reflecting a 9.33% growth. This positive trend highlights the vital importance of tourism to Nottinghamshire’s economy, creating jobs and opportunities for local people across the city and county. Our CEO Megan Powell Vreeswijk, said: “This significant growth in Nottinghamshire’s visitor economy is a testament to the hard work of local tourism sector, our team and partners. With a remarkable £2.36 billion generated in 2023 and increased visitor numbers, it’s clear that Nottingham and Nottinghamshire are becoming recognised as standout destinations for both day and overnight visitors. We are delighted to be working with East Midlands Combined County Authority (EMCCA) and Visit Peak District and Derbyshire on a joint approach to Destination Management Plans. EMCCA's board agreed to develop a regional approach to delivering a thriving visitor economy for the East Midlands. The Board agreed funding of up to £60k to support our joint work to develop a Destination Management Plan for the EMCCA region to add value and strengthen collaboration. Our CEO Megan Powell Vreeswijk, said: "Collaboration across the East Midlands is key to driving a vibrant and sustainable visitor economy, and we are delighted to work in partnership with East Midlands Combined County Authority and Visit Peak District Derbyshire and Derby to make this vision a reality.
