The time has finally come... The Marmalade Festival programme goes live next week - Tuesday 4 March at 10am. You'll get access to all 70+ events and can book straight away. Let's just hope you don't all break the website this year 😂 A reminder on ticketing for this year: This year, all sessions are left uncapped - so there is no waiting list or limit to how many tickets can be booked. However, on the day of the session, it will be a first come, first served at the door. If you arrive and have a ticket booked, you will be allowed in if there is space. If you arrive without having booked a ticket, you will have to wait until those who have reserved have been let in. We believe this is the fairest way to ensure all have access to sessions, but also to ensure that no sessions are left with gaps in the audience.

Non-profit Organizations
A platform for collaboration focussed on relationships, power and place to create a better Oxford.
About us
We believe that relationships are the foundation for social change - relationships within organisations, across organisations, and between people with different amounts of power - including those whose voices are rarely heard. Our aim is to support people and organisations across Oxford to build trust and capacity for collaboration, in order to bring about sustainable impact. We are particularly interested in strengthening relationships locally. By hosting international, national and local projects, Marmalade showcases what's possible in the city of Oxford.

It's almost time to share the 2025 schedule with you... But first! Marmalade Festival, the Skoll World Forum [Skoll Foundation] and TheSidebar bring amazing people to Oxford. But it can be hard to make all the connections you'd like to in just four days. Our friends at The Sidebar have developed an interactive map to help make all these amazing people visible and accessible to each other. If you are interested in joining then click on the link below, which will be updated closer to the time. While the programming team are busy planning the schedule, we thought it would be helpful to have a run down of the venues we'll be using this year. We'll be back at The Story Museum in the Woodshed Theatre. This place isn't just for kids! They have a stunning space ready and waiting for our session hosts and guests to enjoy. We'll also be returning to the Museum Makers Room at the Museum Of Oxford situated in the Town Hall. It's a bright and beautiful room - with the coolest lights! Both spaces are fully accessible and in the heart of the city we call home. We can't wait to welcome you back to enjoy a series of events between 1 and 4 April this year.

Barriers? Let’s break the big one down. We’ve heard one piece of feedback loud and clear from those considering hosting at our festival next April. It’s about money. We’re transparent about the fact that we ask our hosts to make a contribution to be part of the festival. While Skoll Foundation's generous support plays a key role, we’re also a charity - The Old Fire Station, Oxford - and like any charity, we rely on additional funding to bring this incredible festival to life. But here’s the thing—we don’t want money to stand in your way. That's just not how we do things. What matters most to us is the heart of your session - does it align with our mission to champion social impact? If you’re a grassroots organisation, a start-up, or an individual with a powerful idea, don’t worry about breaking the bank. We’re not expecting you to make huge financial contributions. On the other hand, if you're part of a larger organisation or have funding backing your project, we hope that Marmalade Festival can benefit from your involvement as well. The bottom line: if £10 is what you can manage, that’s completely fine. No judgement here and please don't let that put you off from applying. We’re eager to hear from anyone and everyone driving change and looking to use the Marmalade Festival as a platform to inspire, collaborate, and challenge. So don’t wait much longer - take a look at the application form on our website and submit your proposal by the 13th of January, 2025. We can’t wait to see the amazing work you’re doing!

Ready to meet the 2025 festival team? 👋 From left to right; Ruba Asfahani, Melissa Latchman, Maya Little, Becs Morris, Jeremy Spafford. Ruba Asfahani: Communications Lead (she/her) Ruba manages all marketing related activities for the festival. This includes social media, newsletters and website updates. She develops, organises and updates the online and printed programmes, photography and videography. Fun fact: Ruba took part in the UK's very popular Bargain Hunt in 2022, but alas it's currently not available for viewing. Melissa Latchman: Engagement Lead (she/her) Melissa reaches out to groups that would be suitable for festival and facilitates their involvement. Tailoring the festival to meet the needs of different groups and making it as accessible as possible is her priority. Fun fact: Melissa loves to create activities which make children and young people happy and thrive. Maya Little: Marmalade Festival Coordinator (she/her) Maya will co-ordinate the curation of the Festival programme and lead on the partnership with the Skoll World Forum. She will be the main contact for applications, helping you to find the right time, resources and space for your session, and liaising with the rest of the Marmalade team. Beyond her Marmalade-making life, she enjoys collaging and balfolk dancing. Becs Morris: Project Manager (she/her) Becs oversees the operations, finances and logistics of the Marmalade Festival. She will be the bridge between departments, venues and staff. To ensure that we have an exciting, diverse, accessible and all-round brilliant festival. Fun fact: Whilst Becs loves the Marmalade Festival, her favourite spread of choice will always be raspberry jam! Jeremy Spafford: Associate Director, Old Fire Station (he/him) Jeremy has oversight of the Marmalade Festival supporting the team as needed. Fun fact: he is surprisingly interested in garden composting. If you need to get in touch with us, drop us a DM or email marmalade@oldfirestation.org.uk

For the festival in April this year, we had over 2,000 sign-ups for 80+ sessions hosted by groups ranging from small local community based organisations to large global NGOs. Here’s why we stand out: 🍊 Delegates to the Skoll World Forum use Marmalade as an opportunity to host their own events as part of a wider ecosystem. 🍊 Others from around the world, who are not delegates, come to pick up on energy generated by the Forum. 🍊 Local and national UK organisations use Marmalade as a platform to share their thinking and connect with a global audience. The festival, which spreads across Oxford, is managed by The Old Fire Station, Oxford; all logistics from event management to catering, and comms to customer service. As an arts centre, we encourage participation, creativity and enjoyment. The issues are serious but can only be addressed in an atmosphere of optimism and joy. Marmalade Festival is free to attend, though donations are welcome. We can’t wait to learn, connect and develop with you again in April 2025. For those new to Marmalade and wondering what on earth we do... 👀 👇 Each year, we at the The Old Fire Station, Oxford produce the Marmalade Festival in partnership with Skoll World Forum / Skoll Foundation. Our aim is to help connect people from around the world with global/local, strategic/grassroots perspectives. Our focus is systems change through the lens of people, power and place. Over the years we have welcomed thousands to explore sessions ranging from interactive workshops to film screenings, networking events to campaign launches. Themes tend to be about the big issues facing our planet: climate, social justice, big tech, colonial legacy, impact measurement, funding and power. Marmalade has become a destination event with deep local roots and a global reputation. It is a warm space for people doing good locally, nationally and internationally to share ideas and find support and encouragement. We can't wait to welcome your applications to host a session... Watch this space!
