In August and September 2024, the YouMatter Health, Safety & Wellbeing Roadshow took to the road. Starting at Wolverhampton, it visited 21 McLaughlin & Harvey projects throughout the UK. Kicking off a video series reflecting on the roadshow, our Group HR Director, Alison Reilly, who's been supporting the bus for 15 years, shares what happens onboard and why it's so important to McLaughlin & Harvey. #WeCare #GetOnBoard

📢 Project Update 📢 We have been awarded the main construction works for a major new green transport initiative for Dundee City Council. The main works project, delivered via the SCAPE Scotland framework, will include installing 350 electrical vehicle charging points supported by a solar panel array on the roof, a battery storage system, car share spaces, and an e-bike hire service. When completed, the existing ground floor of the car park will be fully pedestrianised and include information points and meeting spaces. We have already undertaken the enabling works at the Bell Street multi-storey car park and will continue transforming it into a Green Transport Hub. 📷 Project Completion 📷 Looking back at last year’s civil engineering projects, completing and handing over the Deep Water Terminal to Stornoway Port was one of the highlights. We constructed a new 195-metre-long combi-piled steel main berth quay wall with concrete cope and installed an open-piled concrete berthing dolphin, allowing the berth to be extended to 270 metres. Additionally, we constructed a 150-metre-long combi-piled steel linkspan berth quay wall with concrete cope. Since the inaugural docking of 'Ambition' at the new terminal, Stornoway Port completed a successful cruise year in 2024. The project also won the ‘Port Development Award’ at the 2024 British Ports Association Awards, recognising the planning, design, construction, and execution of the project, which will support long-term growth in the Outer Hebrides. Not all heroes wear capes! 🦸♂️ Tommy Lowe, a Careys employee working on our Wester Hailes High School project, recently had an eventful trip to the site. Tommy was heading to work around 5.30 am and came across debris on the road and a distinct smell of fuel. As he stopped to investigate, he discovered a car had collided with trees, with a person still inside. Tommy proceeded to cut the driver from their seatbelt and contacted the emergency services. We are one big team at McLaughlin & Harvey, and we're proud to work with such dedicated and kind supply chain partners who live and breathe our core values. We presented Tommy with a Lifestyles gift voucher and some treats as a token of appreciation and acknowledgement of his bravery and instinct to help others. #WeCare

The spirit of giving is what makes Christmas so special for us all ✨🎁! To help lighten the load for those who may be struggling at this time of year, we are supporting Cash for Kids Mission Christmas Appeal - an initiative aimed at spreading warmth and joy to those in need within our community. Our festive fundraising included a staff raffle and Christmas Jumper Day. We are thrilled to have raised £3026 for the appeal, as well as each office taking part in a toy collection. Cash for Kids provides grants to make sure those who need a helping hand can afford the essentials over the festive period- from food, baby milk, and nappies to heating their home and even small gifts for the children. #MissionChristmas #Cashforkids
