We are incredibly honoured to have been presented with the BAFTA for 'Outstanding British Contribution to Cinema' last night by our ambassador, Simon Pegg. To be recognised in our 25th year for the work we do in bringing the power of the shared cinema experience and the magic of film to NHS patients in hospital is a moment in our history that we will never forget. This award is dedicated to the patients, hospital partners, staff, volunteers and nurses who make our service as special as it is. Thank you to our film industry partners for your generosity in helping to bring the big screen to those who need it at some of the most challenging times. We were so happy also that our founder Christine Hill could be there. I have not heard about this fantastic charity before, but I have just watched the charity being awarded the 'Outstanding British Contribution to Cinema award' at the 2025 BAFTA awards show. Congratulations to MediCinema a truly worthwhile award for a fantastic charity that does so much to provide cinema experiences inside hospitals to support the emotional, physical and mental health of NHS patients. I’m thrilled to see MediCinema receiving the Outstanding British Contribution to Cinema award at the BAFTAs. When Andrea was admitted to hospital with a serious injury she faced the prospect of a long stay away from her loved ones. When Immy and her family came to a screening at MediCinema during a stay in hospital, it gave them something they'd never experienced before - the chance to watch a film in a cinema together as a family. Immy has a life-limiting condition that means experiences many take for granted aren't always accessible to them. But with MediCinema, Immy was able to attend the screening in her hospital bed with the full support of our MediCinema nurses. Immy's dad, Tristan, shared with us what the experience meant for the whole family. Thank you to Immy and her family for allowing us to share their experience. As we come to the end of Children’s Mental Health Week we want to take a moment to reflect on the impact that the MediCinema service can have for young NHS patients. Being in hospital can be isolating and stressful, especially for children and their families. MediCinema provides a lifeline to patients giving a much-needed sense of normality and escape through the magic of film and the shared cinema experience. Last year we were joined by over 3500 children and young people at our screenings, who enjoyed the latest movie releases in the comfort of our cinemas specially designed to accommodate wheelchairs, beds and hospital equipment. We can see by some of the feedback what a difference these screenings can have on patient experience. #ChildrensMentalHealthWeek #FeelBetterWithFilm
