Against the backdrop of the cost-of-living-crisis we’re determined to provide a lifeline for families who are experiencing anxiety, stress and hardship. Our group programmes are a safe space in communities where families can go, talk about what they’re going through, and find support for their mental health. But right now, we can’t reach everyone who needs us. We want to extend our programmes, so more people can come together and get support before problems take hold. 💜 Please donate today to support more families this winter, and help them find their belonging in a community that cares. https://lnkd.in/ekxU4pdA

This Grief Awareness Week, we're taking time to consider this difficult aspect of life. While a common experience, grief and loss is different for everyone. Grieving is not a mental health problem, but it can affect your mental health. And it can be a very isolating time in people's lives. We may not know how to react to a friend or loved one who is grieving. When we ourselves experience it, we may feel like we are not doing it 'right': taking too long, or not showing the correct emotions. This Grief Awareness Week let's try to understand grief, so that people can grieve their loss at their own pace, with the support they need, and find their own path through their new normal. Head to the Maternal Mental Health Alliance (MMHA) page to follow our week-long campaign on young mums' mental health. 💜 #YoungMumsMatter #CreatingConnections
This week, we’re focusing on the mental health of mums aged 25 and under. Why? Because young mums are at a higher risk of experiencing mental illness during pregnancy and after birth and are more likely to face additional challenges which can impact their wellbeing. With suicide remaining the leading cause of maternal death in the first year after birth and an increase in the number of teenage maternal suicides in recent years, understanding the needs of young mums is more important and urgent than ever. That’s why we’re working with the Mental Health Foundation to raise awareness of the reality for young mums, educate people working with them about the importance of peer support, and create resources to help facilitate life-saving connections. Follow along this week for more statistics, honest conversations, and solutions to ensure young mums get the mental health support they need and deserve. #CreatingConnections #YoungMumsMatter #YoungMumsMH

We all struggle with motivation sometimes. That can be especially true now the nights are longer, darker, and the weather makes it harder to leave the house. If you have anxiety, depression, or another mental health condition, it can be especially hard to find the motivation to take on a task you’ve been meaning to take care of. It can even feel impossible to do everyday things like look after yourself or your living space. There should be no shame in this, but it's good to remember that there are small steps that might help. We asked people how they overcome a lack of motivation, and we got some lovely thoughts back: https://bit.ly/3QUwTPW

We need a society where men and boys feel able to open-up and ask for help. 💜 #InternationalMensDay

We all struggle sometimes. And we all have times when we could use support. But the pressure of stigma and stereotypes can make it tough to take that step and ask for help. An example of this that often affects men and boys is the stereotype that they must not show “weakness” or emotional vulnerability. Ever heard or been told to, “man-up”? On International Men’s Day and beyond it, let’s strive to challenge the stigma and stereotypes that stop men and boys from getting the help they need, when they need it. #MentalHealthSupport #InternationalMensDay

Today is World Kindness Day! 💜 Kindness is choosing to do something that helps others or yourself, motivated by genuine feelings. Online and out in the world, it's important to act with kindness and empathy as a key part of protecting everyone's mental health. It should be built into systems, policies, workplaces, and communities. This starts with individual acts of kindness. 🤝 An act of kindness can make all the difference to someone having a bad day, and can also have far-reaching benefits for ourselves and our communities. Let us know acts of kindness that have benefitted you in the comments! #WorldKindnessDay
