Another milestone for E-ACT Art leaders today as they critically evaluated the learning and assessment data gleaned from their 2000-item adaptive comparative judgement trial. Peter Davies is facilitating an excellent session today, gathering validity evidence from the Art specialists. Victoria Merrick took the discussion a step further having collaborated with Edwards Data Solutions Limited to present meaningful data visualisations that allowed teachers to see how each of their pupils was performing in that Art assessment compared to their Trust sample. What did the subject leaders say? “Having seen the data and interrogated it at trust, school, class and pupil level, it’s starting to make sense!’ “This is brilliant! We’ve never had this quality of reliable data. I can see how I’d use this to identify professional development needs in my department” 👉🏻Want to keep up with developments? 👉🏻Thinking of exploring ACJ in your setting? What a day today with the E-ACT secondary Art subject leads at our Birmingham HQ. Over this half term we have completed a 2000 piece trust wide year 7 Art trial using the RM compare adaptive comparative judgement software from Assessment from RM in conjunction with Merrick-Ed Limited to understand it's application as a tool in the assessment of the formal elements of line, tone and shape. Our trial tested the claim that RM Connect captures judgements based on the assessment objectives outlined regardless of the curriculum focus. Through our trial we found that we can assess accurately across the trust in year 7 Art with a reliability score of 0.8. Today we met to validated the rank order generated through our trial, utilising a 3 pronged approach to sampling. Our next steps are to distill our findings and take them into our next meeting where we will consider our trust approach to KS3 assessment in Art holistically. A huge thank you to Victoria Merrick for her contribution to the session and Sally Edwards for her work in preparation. It was great to see Chris Moore from Chillwell School and Lauren Nicholson from Assessment from RM at the session.
