About us

The increased use of Al brings a whole new world of opportunities and risks for future generations, but how do we ensure students of all backgrounds are prepared for this? We want to empower teachers and schools to thrive in an Al-infused world, and the Good Future Foundation is here to co-create strategy, curricula, and resources; enhance skills and build a community to support them in achieving that goal.

  • This week on Foundational Impact, we’re moving from the world of healthcare to law, welcoming the distinguished Professor Anselmo Reyes, who shares his insights on AI’s potential and risks in legal services, and what this means for legal education. 💬 In a thoughtful discussion with our host Daniel Emmerson, Prof. Reyes paints an optimistic yet careful picture. He sees AI as a powerful tool that could make legal help available to those who’ve been priced out of traditional services. But he’s also mindful of the challenges, particularly how AI can inherit biases from its training data, often in ways we only discover over time. 💡 Prof.Reyes suggests AI could excel in areas where rules are clearer cut such as commercial cases, contract disputes and small claims. However, when it comes to family law or cases needing a deep understanding of human emotions and complex situations, AI shows its limitations. For law students and educators, Prof. Reyes advocates a balanced approach: law schools should embrace AI while teaching students to use it thoughtfully. Rather than banning these tools, he suggests helping students understand how AI can support, but never replace their own legal reasoning and judgment. • “AI simply reflects our past choices and societal history rather than making truly independent decisions. This underscores our collective responsibility in shaping AI’s behaviour and the importance of teaching students to make conscious and ethical choices.” explains Esen, healthcare and technology leader. 💬 This week on Foundational Impact, Daniel Emmerson has invited Esen Girit Tümer to share her observation on how AI and other emerging technologies are transforming medical settings and doctor-patient interactions. Their conversation reveals why educators must prepare students to understand this technology. Esen emphasises that AI shouldn’t be seen as a standalone technology, but as part of a future where multiple technologies like AR, VR and metaverse will seamlessly integrate into our daily lives, becoming as essential as electricity and the internet are today. However, she reminds that while AI can handle repetitive tasks, it cannot replicate human compassion, emotional intelligence, or spiritual understanding. 💡 Curious to learn more? • So pleased to share that Good Future Foundation and Educate Ventures Research are joining forces! Register your interest in AI Professional Development here: https://lnkd.in/dKKrcAsS We’ve had the pleasure of working with the brilliant Educate Ventures Research team over the past few months and feel a true sense of alignment on our approach to best practices around AI in schools. Therefore, we are kicking off our collaborative journey to deliver in person professional development to support effective and safe AI implementation across the UK in 2025. Together, we’ll offer a dynamic professional development programme focused on equipping educators to navigate the evolving landscape of AI in education. Through in person hands-on workshops, we’ll explore the potential of AI tools while emphasising responsible use, AI literacy, and safeguarding. Our goal is to collaborate with school leaders and teachers to build confidence in AI implementation, share best practices, and build a supportive network. This initiative, designed specifically for non-fee-paying schools, is set to launch in December 2024. We’re working diligently to create a programme that meets teachers’ specific needs, and will share more details soon. If you are interested in bringing this professional development opportunity to your region, please get in touch with us at the link above! #ai #professionaldevelopment #aicpd #aiineducation 👇 First work meeting between EVR's Dina Foster and David Turnbull with GFF's Daniel Emmerson and Esther Cheng.

  • It is such a privilege for Good Future Foundation to meet so many passionate educators at our recent professional development day at Felsted School! These educators invested their time to enhance their understanding of AI, all driven by their desire to guide students safely through this emerging technology and to support other fellow teachers in reducing the administrative burden so they can focus on what they do best. Our October event was just the beginning. In the past two months, we’ve continued supporting participating schools through our AI Quality Mark, and we’re pleased to continue this journey with them as they navigate AI in their schools and classrooms. This regional professional development initiative in Essex marks the first of many. We’re bringing similar opportunities to other regions across the UK soon. Stay tuned for more announcements! If you’re also interested in having us host professional development in your area, please do get in touch. Last but not least, a heartfelt thank you to Felsted School for providing the perfect venue and support. Special thanks to Laura Knight and Thomas Sparrow for co-designing this impactful day - your engaging and informative sessions inspired many of our participants. We’re also grateful to Lorne Stefanini and Melanie from Felsted School, and Charlotte Bleakley from Roding Valley High School for sharing their experiences in this highlight video, and to Joel Carr for capturing these moments so brilliantly! Can’t wait to share more exciting professional development opportunities with you all very soon! https://lnkd.in/gnGKG6Sz

  • What does responsible AI adoption in schools actually look like? Joseph Lin, an education technology consultant working with schools across Hong Kong, shares valuable perspectives from the frontlines. His message is refreshingly candid: while AI promises exciting possibilities for education, the reality on the ground is more complex. Technical hurdles eat into teaching time. Data privacy needs careful consideration. And most importantly - teachers need space to experiment before we bring AI to students. Essential takeaways: • Self-hosted AI platforms emerge as a solution for better data privacy and management • Teacher exploration and understanding must precede student implementation • Integration needs to align with existing educational practices and assessment methods • Success requires balancing equity, logistics, and pedagogical needs while gathering implementation data Drawing from his frontline experience with Hong Kong schools, Joseph emphasises: sustainable AI integration isn't about speed - it's about getting it right. • 🎉𝑪𝒆𝒍𝒆𝒃𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑾𝒐𝒐𝒅𝒍𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑨𝒄𝒂𝒅𝒆𝒎𝒚 𝑻𝒓𝒖𝒔𝒕 𝒂𝒄𝒉𝒊𝒆𝒗𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑨𝑰 𝑸𝒖𝒂𝒍𝒊𝒕𝒚 𝑴𝒂𝒓𝒌! 👏🏻 First of all we want to thank Woodland Academy Trust for their efforts in shaping and structuring the AI Quality Mark with Good Future Foundation, and to congratulate them on being the first academy trust to achieve it. Our aim with the Quality Mark is to ensure that schools have a structured and measured framework for adopting standard operating procedures when it comes to the use of Artificial Intelligence tools at school. As this technology begins to change the way that we all approach common tasks, activities and projects, we want to be sure that schools are in the best possible position when it comes to professional development for their staff and best practice for their students. The Quality Mark is designed to help schools on that journey and provide them with support and guidance where they need it most. A huge thanks to both Andy Kemp, Laura Knight, Julie Carson and the Woodland Academy Trust community for their efforts in making this happen. We are sure that many other schools are set to benefit moving forward. If you are interested in obtaining the AI Quality Mark, please do contact us. #aiineducation #aiqualitymark
