Celebrating International Day of Persons with Disabilities 🌍 At MSDUK, we believe in fostering an inclusive community that supports everyone, recognising the power of intersectionality in building truly diverse supply chains. Today, we are proud to highlight the incredible story of Feras Al-Moubayed, a British Syrian entrepreneur who is both deaf and uses non verbal communication. Through his membership with MSDUK, Feras, secured work with Nestlé, providing British Sign Language (BSL) training to staff at their Nespresso UK stores. Hear directly from Feras’s, as he reflects on his experience with MSDUK in this powerful video: Feras’ journey reminds us: ▪️Inclusion matters at every level. ▪️True equity is about breaking barriers and building opportunities for all. ▪️Intersectionality strengthens the fabric of supplier diversity. Celebrating International Day of Persons with Disabilities 🌍 At MSDUK, we believe in fostering an inclusive community that supports everyone, recognising the power of intersectionality in building diverse supply chains. I’m grateful to MSDUK for sharing my journey as a Deaf British Syrian entrepreneur. Being part of MSDUK has opened doors, such as providing British Sign Language (BSL) training to staff at Nestlé and Nespresso stores. This work is about more than training it’s about changing mindsets and creating a world where Deaf people feel valued and included. However, ongoing challenges remain: ** Banking: I’ve moved seven times between banks due to poor service and lack of access. Deaf people often face communication barriers that prevent us from accessing essential services. ** Healthcare: I’ve switched 14 GP surgeries and eight dentists due to inadequate training on supporting Deaf patients. Basic tools like BSL interpreters should be available, but they are often missing. These challenges reflect the experiences of over 150,000 to 300,000 BSL users in the UK who face unnecessary barriers daily. True equity means breaking down these barriers and ensuring access to essential services like banking, healthcare, and education. Every organisationbusiness, government, or NGO must take responsibility. Accessibility should be embedded in their DNA. It's not enough to offer services; they need to be accessible to everyone. Tomorrow, I’ll meet with Vincenzo D'Aniello to discuss extending BSL training for Nestlé and Nespresso UK for a full year. I applaud them for their commitment to inclusion, which allows me to walk into stores without facing communication barriers. But this is just the start. Access to healthcare, banking, and essential services must improve for Deaf people. We must work to ensure that no one is left behind. If you’d like to discuss how we can make a difference together, explore training, or share insights, feel free to reach out. Let’s take action before January 2025 to create an accessible world for all. Once again, thank you to MSDUK for your support and for sharing my story. Together, we can build a world where everyone feels valued and included. Inclusion Matters. #IDPD #InclusionMatters #DisabilityRights #EqualOpportunity #AccessibleWorld #CelebrateAbilities #SupplierDiversity #NoMoreBarriers
