Match-funded Advanced Materials and Manufacturing PhD opportunities for your business 💡 ⚙️ We are pleased to announce that The Manchester Metropolitan University will be offering a series of match-funded PhD studentships as part of our Advanced Materials and Manufacturing Innovation Centre (AMMIC). Funded by the newly established Greater Manchester Combined Authority Investment Zone, AMMIC is aimed at developing business-university innovation focused on advanced manufacturing and sustainable materials development, to build expertise and capability that will deliver benefit to the Greater Manchester region. This includes additive manufacturing, surface engineering, metamaterials and materials for ‘green’ energy. Companies will be required to contribute 60% of the direct project costs. Dr Moshe Kinn's latest paper explores 'Turning thin film plastics (such as crisp packets) into new products ' This 'new' plastic has a predicted first lifespan of up to 50 years and can be recycled a further nine times, creating a circular economy for plastic waste that typically isn't recycled and ends up in landfill.
