✨On the fifth day of Christmas, we want to say a heartfelt thank you to another local partner Ikon Science The team at Ikon Science has been an incredible support this year, delivering leaflets for our double donations campaign during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, and crafting beautiful pom pom wreaths for us to sell on stalls at various Christmas markets. In addition to supporting our fundraising efforts, Ikon organised a staff fun run to raise money for our families with another planned for December. ✨On the fourth day of Christmas, we are celebrating our "charity of the year" partnership with Garsons Garden Centre, Esher. We're delighted to be working with Garsons this year and are so grateful for their support. From assisting with fundraising at their annual Food Fair and members' Christmas shopping evening, to hosting a pebble painting event during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, Garsons has made a real impact on those we support. They've donated raffle prizes for other fundraising events and during December, they are helping us fundraise through a Giving Tree in aid of Momentum as part of their grotto. ✨On the third day of Christmas, we want to shout about Stepnell Construction and thank them for their support of Momentum Children's Charity since March. From constructing a swing set in the garden of one of our families, to assisting with transport for an auction and staffing a stall at our Halloween toy sale, Stepnell has been a fantastic supporter of the charity. Although our relationship is relatively new, we really appreciate their willingness to help whenever they can! 💚 Each day for twelve days we'll be shining a light on our incredible corporate partners and the incredible ways they help to support families of seriously ill children. ✨On the second day of Christmas we would like to thank one of our valued local partners The DoubleTree by Hilton, Kingston for your support this year. Your efforts including funds raised through your bake sale, sweepstake, and the creation of the Momentum Sours cocktail in aid of our charity are very much appreciated. This Christmas, your donation of selection boxes is helping us to deliver Doorstep Santa gifts to families who are unable to visit grottos. And everyone at Momentum Children's Charity is looking forward to the staff Christmas lunch that you are kindly hosting for us! ✨On the first day of Christmas we want to take a moment to express our heartfelt gratitude to our long term corporate supporter Valero Energy Ltd (UK) for their continued support. From their incredible annual Golf Benefit for Children to the volunteering efforts that directly impact our families, Valero makes a huge difference. This year they've helped prepare our boat for respite breaks, decorated the boat to bring spooky fun to families for Halloween, and packed over 350 advent calendars as special gifts for the children we support. Spectacular scenes last night at the Children & Young People Now Awards 2024 as Momentum won the family support award.🏆 Our Founder & CEO Bianca Effemey OBE and Family Support Manager Emma Searle were in attendance and extremely proud to receive the award in recognition of the wonderful work of our family support services. Especially with such fierce competition from the other nominees. The room was alive, loud, buzzing with excitement, and filled with anticipation. Everyone was dressed to impress, and the noise was almost overwhelming. And then it happened; the moment the announcement came that Momentum had won. Bianca said: "To be totally honest, Emma and I were stunned. We just sat there for a moment, then suddenly looked at each other, mouths agape, and stood up. It was such a unique and emotional experience because it highlighted the incredible work our team does and the immense effort they all put in." A huge thank you goes out to Children & Young People Now for a truly magical evening and for giving us a moment we will cherish forever.

Ashlea’s daughter, Freya, 14, died very suddenly in December last year “Freya was beautiful, both inside and out. She was funny, kind, and very protective of others. If she ever saw someone being treated unfairly, she was the first to stand up for them. She was a talented dancer, a popular girl, and the best friend I could have ever asked for. I had her when I was 19, so we grew up together. Child loss for me is about navigating this new life whilst still honouring my child’s memory – a second life. The most important part of me is gone, and now I have to figure out who I am without Freya." Ashlea, from Hampton, shares her memories of Freya and talks about the support Momentum’s bereavement service, Echoes, has given her.
