Many of you will have seen the news from Natural England that they are restricting access to their great crested newt DLL schemes in Norfolk, Leicestershire, Yorkshire & Somerset because of a lack of compensation ponds.   We are pleased to confirm however that this isn’t the case for NatureSpace’s DL schemes, that operate across 68 Local Planning Authorities. We don’t have any shortage of ponds in any of our areas - in fact, we have a healthy supply already in the ground in every area in our ‘pond bank’, with a queue of landowners wanting to host more.   So if you are a developer, of whatever size, or planning or ecological consultant, in any of our areas, please contact us for a free upfront assessment or a report within 10 working days.

🌿 Great news for newts in Stafford Borough! 🌿   St. Modwen is leading the way in sustainable development with the Meaford Power Station redevelopment. As part of the project, 14 new ponds are being created on-site, alongside the enhancement of hibernacula and terrestrial habitats to support and boost local newt populations. In addition, the Newt Conservation Partnership is creating 13 more ponds off-site, further contributing to the enhancement and conservation of biodiversity in Staffordshire. 🦎💧   This initiative is a great example of how conservation and development can work together.
