Born at just 26 weeks and weighing just 1lb 9.7oz, Ian’s journey began with an emergency transfer to Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust in January 2023. After 99 days in neonatal care – Ian went home, oxygen-free, just one day before his due date. A few months ago, Ian celebrated his first birthday surrounded by loved ones. Amazing work from everyone involved, and best wishes to Ian and his family! 💙

✨ NNA Scholarships 2024 ✨ Introducing the Kate Farrer Scholarship, supported by NNA Transport SIG Co-Chair, Patrick Turton. This scholarship, worth up to £1,000, is a transport scholarship funded by the Kate Farrer Foundation. Kate was a highly respected neonatologist with a passion for neonatal care in hospitals and on the road. Applicants may want to explore a range of ideas relating to neonatal transport, such as looking at ways to enhance transport nurse training opportunities, or spending time with different types of transport services to see which approaches could enhance how you operate. Perhaps welfare is a priority and you want to support transport nurses in different roles, or maybe you're a unit-based nurse and you want to ease the burden on parents whose babies have to be transferred. Join us on 29th January for 'Improving access to evidence-based information for parents about pain management' We welcome Maria Pureza Laudiano-Dray and Dr Judith Meek, a research nurse and consultant neonatologist from UCL/UCLH, who will present a new communication tool co-designed with and for staff and parents in the neonatal unit. The tool aims to facilitate communication about pain in the neonatal unit and its management, centering on parental involvement.
