The North East's largest Airport connecting to over 80 direct destinations
About us
Newcastle is a multi-award winning Airport and claimed the top accolade of 'Best in the World' at the 2024 Routes World Conference. The Airport is on track to exceed 5 million passengers in 2024 and provides vital connectivity for the North East region to the world. Thanks to the Airport's strong portfolio of 16 airline partners, passengers can choose from over 80 direct destinations and more than 300 onward connections worldwide. The Airport employs over 600 people and contributes nearly £1bn in GVA to the regional economy. The Airport provides an exceptional passenger experience; 98% of passengers transit through security in under 10 minutes, the service provided to passengers with disabilities is one of the best in the UK and in 2023 the Airport ranked in the top 3 in the UK for on-time performance. The Airport is committed to becoming Net Zero by the year 2035 and has been named as a 'sustainability sector leader'. The business has its own solar farm, that can provide 100% of its electricity on a sunny day, and 0% of the waste produced on site goes to landfill. Looking forward to 2025 the Airport will celebrate its 90th anniversary and a further £20m will be invested in the terminal and infrastructure. This will include a £17m project to resurface the Airport's runway, which will extend the overall lifespan of the runway and ensure we continue to provide vital global connectivity for our customers.

Another step in the right direction! 💚 We're delighted to have received more global recognition for the strong progress we’ve made towards becoming Net Zero by 2035. We are one of only seven airports in the UK who have achieved Level 4 or above in the Airport Carbon Accreditation (ACA) scheme. The scheme independently assesses airports on the way they manage and reduce their carbon emissions. Achieving Level 4 status is an outstanding achievement and recognises the fantastic work our teams are doing to drive us towards our sustainability goals.
