Around 150 colleagues from across the UK recently tuned in to a national webinar on proactive care hosted by Greater Manchester Primary Care Provider Board (PCB), NHS Greater Manchester (NHS GM) and Peak Health Coaching. People attending the webinar were interested to hear about the innovative work being undertaken by general practice in Greater Manchester, as part of the Proactive Care Programme. Delivered in partnership with the three organisations, the programme is a fully-funded support package which helps PCNs develop new models of proactive care in the community. Currently around 30 PCNs are focusing on patients with cardiovascular disease and diabetes, linked to the NHS Beyond Core Contract (BeCCor). Participants benefit from personalised health coaching and are encouraged to use available data, Quality Improvement (QI) methods and their existing workforce to think differently about highlighting and helping their patients to live well for longer. At the webinar, delegates heard how Swan PCN in Wigan had approached a dementia screening pilot after completing cohort one of the programme. They also heard from colleagues at GMPCB, NHS GM and Peak Health Coaching, including PCB Chief Officer, Dr Tracey Vell, Warren Heppolette, Chief Officer for Strategy, Innovation and Population Health at NHS GM and Dr Nikesh Vallabh, the GM Proactive Care Clinical Lead. The PCB is currently developing a toolkit which will provide PCNs with a framework to follow when creating their own proactive care models. • Its T level Thursday and we are celebrating our learners, and the fantastic work placements taking place across #GreaterManchester. This includes those in maternity, estates and facilities, finance, and business admin, as well as rotational placement models between hospital and other parts of the system.   We are working closely with the Gatsby Charitable Foundation and Greater Manchester Combined Authority to both expand T Level industry placement numbers and increase the range of health and care employers supporting placements. Sue Howard, our Head of Workforce Development, reflects on the opportunities for health and social care to develop their workforce pipeline by engaging with T Levels. “When I started this piece of work — aimed at increasing T Level industry placement capacity across our health and care system in Greater Manchester — I took it on with my usual gusto, but unsure whether it might be a hard-sell for health and care organisations in the current climate. However, I’ve been bowled over by the response; countless health and care employers across our system have stepped forward to support T Level industry placements”. Read the full blog -

📣 To celebrate #TLevelThursday, we've published our latest report on the destinations of T-level students, showing that T-levels open doors for young people to employment, higher education and apprenticeships. Data on the destinations of 1,202 of the T-level students who completed their course in 2023 (35% of the total cohort) showed that:  🤝 28% progressed into employment  🩺 11% progressed to an apprenticeship, including degree apprenticeships  🎓 47% progressed to higher education (Levels 4-6)  📚 5% progressed to a further education (FE) course   👉 9% had other destinations, including actively seeking work or an apprenticeship, or had taken a gap year    The survey, conducted by research consultancy RCU, was sent to all providers identified as offering a T-level course in the academic year 2022/23.   Subjects completed by this second cohort of T-level students include those from Construction, Digital, Education and Early Years and Health and Science routes. Jenifer Burden MBE, Director of Programmes, Gatsby said:  “We are extremely grateful to the many providers who have collaborated with us on this research, sharing the great outcomes for their students. The latest dataset builds on data from the first cohort and demonstrates the wide range of progression options that T-levels provide for young people, and that they are effective in equipping students to make that transition to their preferred next career step. “This annual survey of student destinations gives insights for students, parents, and providers, by demonstrating the range of paths that T-levels lead to in apprenticeships, further study, or directly into employment which for some students is with the same employer who hosted their 45-day industry placement.” Download the full report Analysis of students’ destinations: second cohort https://lnkd.in/evjJJ4G7 T-levels were first introduced in September 2020, and there are currently 20 subjects available for students. #NAW2025 #NationalApprenticeshipsWeek #SkillsForLife #TLevels

  • It’s National Apprenticeship Week – which is a great opportunity to congratulate our talented apprentices at NHS GM! They include Alysha from our communications and engagement team who completed her Business Level 3 apprenticeship last year. Meanwhile, Charlotte is studying for her Level 7 Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development apprenticeship. She said “I’m supported with dedicated time each week for my apprenticeship. This was one of the main reasons I chose an apprenticeship route because it enables me to balance being a mum, working full time and my home life.” We're proud of them! Apprenticeships are a way to gain hands-on experience while earning valuable qualifications. We’re thrilled to have colleagues across a wide range of apprenticeships, including senior leadership, accountancy, applied digital technology, and people professions. #Apprentiships #NAW2025 #LearningAndDevelopment
