Mark Smith, Adult Musculoskeletal Clinical Lead at NELFT, explains how our Havering and Barking and Dagenham MSK teams have implemented small, innovative approaches to enhance efficiency in their MSK and orthopaedic services. These changes aim to improve patient care and streamline processes. Mark and his team developed an extension of the opt-in waiting list management used for the Musculoskeletal Clinic Assessment as well as the Spinal and Musculoskeletal Assessment Service This initiative reduced wait times from 30-40 weeks to 5 weeks (SMAS) and 7.5 weeks (MCATS), within a seven month period. The project included change ideas such as inbuilt reporting, conditional formatting, and data cleansing, streamlining the process and improving service delivery. Last week, our Global Majority Network (GMN) hosted a Christmas Jingle Celebration at the CEME Centre, bringing together community and faith leaders to mark the festive season. This event provided an opportunity to acknowledge the challenges faced by our local communities this year, offering support and distributing Christmas presents to be shared within local communities. A special thank you to our colleagues who sang at the event, and everyone who generously donated gifts. Your contributions will make a meaningful difference to individuals and families across our community.
