Fantastic to see our women’s health hub in Tower Hamlets profiled on BBC News! Women’s health hubs bring together a team of experts to provide “one-stop shops”, where women can access the right advice and support on a range of gynaecological conditions. They are helping to reduce waiting lists and the number of women being referred to hospital, when they can receive the care they need in their community. We are rolling out a number of women’s health hubs across north east London and as part of their coverage, BBC Northern Ireland have spoken with patients and clinicians at the Tower Hamlets Hub to find out about the positive impact the hubs are having on local women. One patient told the BBC that the hub had helped her to get the treatment she needed quickly and how the treatment had benefited her and her life. The patient received hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) and counselling all under one roof. This is a great example of the wrap around care the hubs can provide. Fantastic to host Matthew Taylor CEO of @NHSConfederation to showcase the incredible work happening in north east London to improve health and care in our communities. Hear his take on our exciting neighbourhood partnership work to address local health inequalities. @BartsHealth
With birth rates on the rise and a growing population, combined with serving some of the poorest boroughs in London, the team at North East London ICS have been developing new ways of working with the aim that everyone should live in a healthy community. NHS North East London Barts Health NHS Trust Despite their funding challenges, largely because their allocation isn’t keeping up with the growth in population, local health leaders have focused on working at neighbourhood level to help support the health of their population. From pop-up clinics in Barking and Dagenham, attended by thousands of people, to Newham Hospital’s CEO Simon Ashton leading the partnership working at Place (because he sees it as the only long term way to tackle rising demand) the NHS North East London team are a shining example of prevention in practice. Mental health services and maternal health are two clear pressure points but the ICS and Trusts are working closely with their local authorities and voluntary sector to develop neighbourhood based interventions.
