On 19 November 2024, at the Global Symposium on Health Systems Research, a critical session was held to address the complex intersections of social, environmental and ecological justice within Health Policy and Systems Research (HPSR). 🌍 Systems that once worked may no longer meet the needs of today’s world. Population migration and climate change are reshaping communities, leaving hospitals underused in some areas while others are overwhelmed. In Nepal, as people move for work and climate shifts reshape the landscape, traditional health systems struggle to adapt. It’s a stark reminder that we need flexible, responsive systems that evolve with these changes. Learning from similar countries and adapting proven approaches can be a powerful way forward however approaches need to be adapted to suit each context.
