This is an exciting opportunity to join People’s History Museum’s (PHM) growing Commercial Team. Driving commercial income is a vital source of funds for PHM and our approach to generating profit for purpose. We want our building to be a hotspot for all kinds of events including corporate conferences, meetings and workshops, weddings, marketplace events, and much more. Reinforcing our reputation as a leading heritage meeting and events space in Manchester. We are looking for an organised, customer-focussed sales professional to join our team, concentrating on increasing event sales and delivering high quality events for paying clients. The role will be responsible for meeting income targets, attracting and retaining clients, and upselling add on services. This week the new Culture Secretary, Lisa Nandy MP, set out her vision for the UK’s culture, media and sport sectors for the first time since the Labour government came to power. She came to Manchester to do this, and spoke of Peterloo and the quest for representation that took place here over 200 years ago, defining evermore its spirit as a city of ideas, equality and change. To our delight, the Culture Secretary also shared that her favourite museum is People’s History Museum, recognising the role that it plays in exploring “the history of ordinary people and the ideas that drove them” and how this can help us “not just to interpret the past, but can help us navigate the future”. We are proud to celebrate ideas worth fighting for and look forward to playing our role in continuing to amplify these stories; past, present and future. And we thank all those who support us to make this possible.

In honour of the 40th anniversary of the 1984 to 1985 Miners’ Strike, PHM embarked on a digitisation project to unearth and photograph pivotal artifacts from our Miners’ Strike collection. We did it! 🎉 A huge thank you to everyone who supported our Big Give Arts for Impact campaign. All donations were matched up to £5k, and in the end we raised over £10k to help us continue telling the stories of ideas worth fighting for and create free workshops for children to explore the issues that matter to them.
