Earlier this week, our CEO James Doherty had the privilege of pitching the Plastic-i Observatory at the European Space Agency - ESA "Towards a Space Powered Economy" conference at Harwell Science and Innovation Campus. 🌍🚀 We couldn't agree more with Geraldine Naja, ESA’s Director of Commercialisation, Industry & Competitiveness that "Space is a prerequisite for understanding and tackling climate change... Space tech and space data have transformative power that will reshape our society." 🌟 Plastic-i is proud to be at the forefront of leveraging space-based innovation to address pressing environmental challenges, from monitoring marine debris to supporting climate action. The event provided fantastic insights into how space technology can drive meaningful impact across industries. We’re excited to apply what we’ve learned and continue pushing the boundaries of what's possible with satellite data and AI.💡🛰️ #Space 🌌 #ClimateAction 🌱 #SpaceTech 🌏 #Innovation 💻

🌟 We’re excited to be featured on the ESA Business Incubation Centre United Kingdom news page today! 🚀 The support from ESA BIC UK has been instrumental in bringing the Plastic-i Observatory to life. Their early funding allowed us to kickstart development by engaging engineers and laying the foundations that still power our platform today. In addition to funding, we benefited from invaluable technical support and access to critical data through their extensive network. The Plastic-i Observatory wouldn’t be where it is today without this incredible backing. A huge thank you to the ESA BIC UK team for their continuous support and belief in our vision! 🙏 #ESA #PlasticI #Innovation #BlueCarbon #SatelliteTech #OceanMonitoring #Startups #Entrepreneurship #TechForGood
ESA BIC UK Alumni Plastic-i launch the world’s first AI-powered platform for mapping marine debris. The platform aims to address the marine plastic pollution crisis. Each year, more than 10 million tonnes of plastic waste pour into our oceans, damaging marine ecosystems and costing economies billions of dollars in lost natural resources. In collaboration with industry leaders, Plastic-i has developed advanced computer vision models to analyse high-resolution optical satellite imagery to deliver actionable intelligence. Read more about the platform and how to sign up for early access to the beta testing phase on our website at: https://lnkd.in/edjBqBFS #marinepollution #plasticpollution #AI #innovation #space #satelliteimagery Harwell Science and Innovation Campus | James Doherty | Donal Hill, PhD | Jack Lidgley
