Prof Ramiro Alberio and PluriCells were excited to be part of this exclusive tasting session organized by Meatable in Leiden. A particularly proud moment knowing that our PluriCells were used to create these pork sausages and meatballs! We had great discussions about the future of this industry, highlighting the importance of collaborations and the need to build a robust supply chains to ensure high efficiency and quality. Integration with the meat industry and involving farmers will be key to the success of this technology in realizing the benefits for the planet, ensuring equitable access to high quality protein to nourish a growing human population. Can you tell which one is the cultivated meat sausage with our cells?!

Harnessing the efficiency of nature to power the cellular agricultural industry
About us
Drive efficiency and consistency in your processes at scale with fully traceable and highly stable pluripotent stem cell lines, pioneered by experts. PluriCells provides high-quality cell lines from sheep, pigs and cattle via sale under research or commercial licenses by the University of Nottingham. The world is becoming increasingly aware that our meat-eating habits need to change. While cellular agriculture could give consumers new alternatives for their meat consumption, cultivated meat production has not yet achieved scalability or price parity. Both of which are crucial to long-term adoption of cultivated meat products. The process for cell line creation at PluriCells has been peer-reviewed, is scientifically proven to be both reliable and effective and our cells are already in use commercially. Having been developed by an expert team at the University of Nottingham, a University renowned for its ground-breaking research into food sustainability and food technologies, you can be confident when you choose to create with PluriCells. Thank you Elliot Swartz and The Good Food Institute!
At last month's collaborative seminar for cultivated meat industry scientists, we heard from Ramiro Alberio from PluriCells, who discussed the development of pluripotent cells from various livestock species. We also heard from Dylan Stavish, PhD from STEMCELL Technologies, who discussed their progress in deriving tailored media for maintaining porcine pluripotent stem cells. These seminars are set up to facilitate knowledge sharing and provide education on available solutions to overcome obstacles. I encourage scientists working at companies in the #cultivatedmeat industry to attend and get on our email list for announcements and requests to participate in GFI studies and surveys. DM me for invitation details! Note: We restrict invitations to those affiliated with companies — if you're an academic, please re-watch the recordings if interested in contacting the presenters. https://lnkd.in/etnmaCWW

We are glad to have been there and represented by our co-founder!
Thanks to Bezos Centre for Sustainable Protein - Imperial for organizing a great session chaired by Francesca Ceroni where I was joined by Will Milligan from Extracellular, Max Jamilly from Hoxton Farms and Helder Cruz from Meatly to discuss the opportunities and challenges of the cultivated meat industry. We discussed technical and societal challenges and the message from the panel highlighted the key role that collaboration and open science will have to ensure the sustainable growth of this industry. We look forward to engaging with the Bezos Centre to help accelrate progress and deliver tasty, nutritious and affordable products.

Happy New Year to our community of people committed to changing our food systems for the better! Please join Prof. Ramiro Alberio of PluriCells, and Cai Linton , CEO & Co-founder of Multus in this very interesting webinar on Cultivated Meat on March 4th, 2025. With cellular agriculture being a hot topic across the world, and even approved for sale in some markets, the Institute of Food Science and Technology (IFST) Food Processing Special Interest Group (FPSIG) has put together this webinar to give food science and technology professionals an overview of what the manufacture of cellular agriculture involves and innovations in the field. The Webinar will be chaired by Kavya Krishnamurthy , Vice chair of the IFST FPSIG, and Food Innovation Technologist at the The Food Innovation Centre at The University of Nottingham For more information, and to register, please go to https://lnkd.in/eUVR9k-y If you have any questions you'd like to ask our speakers, drop them in the comments or email us on pluricells@nottingham.ac.uk and we'll try to answer them in the webinar!
