Good and Bad PR: the year in review from Andy Barr, Season One Communications "A whole year has rolled around and who doesn’t love a yearly round up? Well, it doesn’t matter what you want, you are getting one anyway. "When prepping for this article (despite what you may think, this is not my first rodeo), I like to have an overall think as to who had an overall Good or Bad year in PR. On the Good PR front brands like Greggs have had another stormer and solidified it's position as one of the UK’s most successful and loved brands. The Double Gregger bus tour has caught my eye, as have TV appearances in various documentaries. Will it continue into 2025, of course it will!" Read Andy's in-depth review https://lnkd.in/eYC4YpZM

The media relations 2025 health check: leave spray and pray behind As we reach 2025, among the welter of challenges facing PR, one thing remains constant: media relations. It’s the special sauce of PR, the bit that no-one else does. As many as 83% of PRs identify it as their most time-consuming task, according to MuckRack data. It’s also a source of frustration and burnout, exasperating many a PR person, client and journalist. So I asked some of the industry’s leaders whether they think media relations are broken beyond repair, or if we can turn things around. Does media relations have a ‘spray and pray’ problem? Martin Loat OBE, special advisor to Synapse Media corp. answers this question and more. https://lnkd.in/eSKGNqbd

How did we get to the Christmas mark this quickly? For Kim Allain it was her last Stunt Watch before the Crimbo break and she went out with some creative bangers. Last week's finds included Hellmann’s and its baggies, B&Q shattering the realities of Christmas and an Inequality Street campaign. https://lnkd.in/evkdNbBG

Using IPSO as a crisis PR tool The Independent Press Stands Organisation ('IPSO') regulates all the Fleet Street titles except The Independent, The FT and The Guardian, all of whom operate their internal complaints system, which is supposed to mirror the IPSO scheme. IPSO publishes an Editors' Code, which, if it were properly enforced by IPSO (which it is not) would radically improve the quality of the British press overnight. But the IPSO Code, when deployed with sufficient savvy, is an essential tool in crisis PR - especially pre-publication. Jonathan Coad, Crisis PR lawyer shares his advice on how you can use IPSO as a crisis PR tool https://lnkd.in/ehDZ4u8f
