In today’s environment of talent scarcity and shifting business contexts, it’s tempting to focus on shorter-term workforce planning (0-3 years). While tactical and operational planning is essential, building a strategic workforce plan with a longer-term view (3-5+ years) is the key to aligning workforce needs with your organisation’s overarching goals. This was the focus of a recent roundtable lunch hosted by the Q5 Australia Team with Business Sydney, which highlighted a number of key insights: 👉 SWP is more than just workforce skills, always consider capability, capacity, and cost 👉 It is crucial to address the gaps in your workforce but equally important to reduce surpluses 👉Data is a key enabler and organisations often underestimate how much they collect 👉 SWP will significantly impact the EVP; models ignoring human needs are likely to fail A big thank you to Q5's Sharon Rice-Oxley (FCIPD), Lyndal Hughes, Freddie Stockwell, and Richard Mableson for sharing their insights and expertise! Our Q5 Australia team just concluded the final event in our Transformation Series, with a spotlight on the importance of culture during times of transformation and change - with a unique coffee twist! Those of you who know the Australian business culture will know how entwined the humble coffee bean is. One standout quote from the session: "Australia didn’t invent coffee; we perfected it!" The events were expertly hosted by our wonderful partners at Baker McKenzie and the University of Melbourne - a huge thanks to Anthony Foley and Michele van der Walt for your incredible hospitality, and to Campos Coffee for keeping us fueled with your amazing coffee! During the sessions we explored: ☕️What leaders need to do differently to maintain engagement during times of transformation and change ☕️How to measure culture and its impact on your business ☕️The importance of storytelling and providing a clear narrative ☕️How to rewire your organisation in support of building a healthy culture Key learnings were shared including: ☕️Make small incremental actions ☕️Create value for today and tomorrow ☕️Culture is the things that happen when the leaders are not in the room ☕️Great culture doesn’t happen by chance ☕️Don’t be afraid to push the work, and be prepared to put it back in the drawer until the time is right A huge thank you to our fantastic speakers: Kate Burleigh, Katrina Symons, Josie Fakira, Albert Moncau Hajzler, and John Ronchi. And, of course, a round of applause for Q5’s own Chris Parsons, Sharon Rice-Oxley (FCIPD), Lyndal Hughes, and Freddie Stockwell for facilitating such impactful discussions.
