I'm incredibly proud to have organised and served as the Conference Chair for the Quality Improvement South West Conference 2024, in it's 5th instalment! Today's event was a resounding success, showcasing our collective commitment to better healthcare. It was an honour to have Professor David Cahill, DJ Gynaecology, Emeritus Professor of Reproductive Medicine and MedEd, as our Honorary Conference Chair. We hosted close to 450 delegates from around the world via MedAll, transforming this into a truly global health event. With hundreds of abstract submissions and over 130 posters in our virtual hall, we celebrated groundbreaking advancements within #QualityImprovement. This year’s theme—Innovation, Sustainability, and Maximising Potential—was brought to life through inspiring presentations. We saw sustainable initiatives like #RubDontScrub and innovative solutions such as BTM for wound reconstruction and teaching US-guided cannulation using tofu. The ingenuity and passion of our presenters were truly remarkable. We were privileged to have distinguished speakers, including: Wing Commander (Retired) Marcus Stow, OBE, MStJ, RGN who challenged us to eat the frog, slice the elephant and charm the zombies. Reflecting on his operational experience globally, to encourage us to adopt an innovation mindset, always. Dr Bettina von Stamm spoke about why innovating for sustainability is no longer enough. She pushed us to adopt whole systems thinking, and to go beyond just sustainability, but to think about regeneration and circularity. Dr Ally Jaffee MBChB BSc got us to reflect on our shared and lived experiences, and how we can make healthcare more human along with the individuals working in it on the front line. Dr Hesham Abdalla 🧩 reflected on a lifetime of service and innovation, and the inception of Hexitime🧩 to drive collaboration. Our quick-fire sessions sparked stimulating discussions David Laith Rawaf, MD spoke about the future of surgery, obstacles in medical education and innovation within healthcare. Professor David Cahill DJ Gynaecology spoke about the history of medicine in Britain, allowing us to reflect on the journey we've taken as we navigate future paths. Lastly, Dr. Shubhendu Kulshreshtha talked about Kotter’s 8 steps in quality improvement. Highlighting that QI is not merely a goal, but a continuous journey of refining our processes, learning from our experiences, and striving for excellence in patient outcomes. The day was filled with thought-provoking talks, engaging speakers, and a dynamic audience. A huge thank you to our judges, and my fantastic committee for their dedication and hard work. Aoibhinn Kelly, Mehak Malhotra, Duaa A., Maggie Nam, Anjuli K., Josh Armstrong, Mouaid, Rayan Awad. Together, we've highlighted the crucial role of quality improvement in healthcare and ran one of the UK’s largest QI conferences to drive us towards a brighter future. #QISW2024 #HealthcareInnovation #GlobalHealth #Sustainability

We are very excited to announce our next keynote speaker 📣 Dr Bettina von Stamm is the founder and director of Innovation Leadership Forum. Her over 30 year journey into 'understanding and enabling innovation' has made her passionate about #diversity, #leadership, #education and #innovation.
