Though February is the shortest month of the year, it’s been a busy and productive one for R3’s Policy and Public Affairs team! Our key activities included: 💬 **R3 Policy Group** This week, the R3 Policy Group met to outline its key workstreams for the year ahead. A big thank you to our newly appointed Group Chair, Sophia Harrison, for leading such an insightful discussion. 🤝 **Political Engagement** Our ongoing political engagement secured a vital opportunity for Frances Coulson, Chair of R3’s Fraud and Asset Recovery Group, to contribute to a roundtable discussion on tackling fraud and economic crime. 🖊️ **Engaging with Government** We’ve written to Justin Madders MP (Ministerial responsibility for insolvency) to request clarification on the Department’s priorities for reforming the personal insolvency framework. 💭 **Fair Banking & Financial Inclusion** We attended the APPG on Fair Banking’s parliamentary event, highlighting the experiences of individuals facing financial exclusion. We’re looking forward to continuing to engage, collaborate, and drive positive change on behalf of our members. About us
R3 is the trade association for the UK’s insolvency, restructuring, advisory, and turnaround professionals. We represent insolvency practitioners, lawyers, turnaround and restructuring experts, students, and others in the profession. Our full members are qualified, regulated and work across the spectrum of the profession, from the global legal and accountancy firms through to smaller, local practices. The insolvency, restructuring and turnaround profession is a vital part of the UK economy. The profession rescues businesses and jobs, creates the confidence to trade and lend by returning money fairly to creditors after insolvencies, investigates and disrupts fraud, and helps indebted individuals get back on their feet. The UK is an international centre for insolvency and restructuring work and our insolvency and restructuring framework is rated as one of the best in the world by the World Bank. R3 supports the profession in making sure that this remains the case. R3’s work includes: • Technical support for members • Education, training and networking opportunities • Public affairs, press and policy work • Support for all practice sizes • Marketing and advertising opportunities • Guidance for businesses and individuals Visit us on twitter @R3PressOffice or @R3_Events

Our Smaller Practices Group (SPG) committee met last week to discuss and address some of the unique issues faced by smaller practices in the UK. The meeting agenda featured guest Lee Bruce, Insolvency Customer Service Manager at HMRC, who overviewed how they are looking to smaller practices for feedback on key processes; the committee kicked off the SPG Forum planning for November 2025; and we welcomed Charlotte Jobling of RG Insolvency, who joined her first meeting. Keep an eye out as more progress is made on these projects. If you’re part of a smaller practice and would like to get involved or raise an issue of concern with R3, reach out to one of our committee members: Stephen Rome - Chair Maria Strong - Vice Chair Ian Davison Chris Herron Robert Horton Judith Howson Myles Jacobson Charlotte Jobling Monica Kapur Andrew Kelsall David Perry Visit our website to learn more about the committees we operate in support of the restructuring, turnaround and insolvency profession: https://lnkd.in/e8KCpqyE #insolvency #restructuring #R3Community
