  • Businesses are no longer in a position where they can "wing it" with their HR processes, and we hate to break it to you, "I didn't know" is not a defense at tribunal! Here is an update on the amendments to the Employment Rights Act heading to Parliament next week and what you need to be prepared for: 👉 Expanded Statutory Sick Pay (SSP) - up to 1.3 million additional workers will become eligible, including all workers for the first time, regardless of employment status (yep, this will be at the cost of the business) 👉 First-day SSP entitlement - no more waiting periods for sick pay (again, paid for by the business) 👉 Zero-hours and agency worker protections - new guaranteed hours rights and compensation for cancelled shifts (in other words, the beginning of the end for zero hour contracts) 👉 Doubled protective award periods - maximum increased from 90 to 180 days for collective redundancies and "fire and rehire" situations (thanks a lot P&O Ferries!) 👉 Enhanced trade union rights - changes to recognition, industrial action, and workplace access (think 1970's "up the workers!") Whilst this is not currently law, the pace of which we are seeing these changes come through are overwhelming. It's even leaving some employment law experts scratching their heads - and the Government wonder why redundancies are on the increase, businesses are collapsing, and wages are stagnating - facepalm! Its important for businesses to take steps to protect themselves - if you're doing right by your processes, you're doing right by your people, it really doesn't have to be difficult. Natalie started the business on this day in 2020 with just three clients from her living room! 👏 We work with over 200 clients throughout the UK, some as far north as Scotland, the furthest south is Cornwall! ✨ Faye joined Team Rebox HR in 2022 and has been promoted 3 times since starting here! 🏆 We are a multi-award winning business, with 18 wins under our belts; including Breathe Partner of the Year 2024. ✨ We don't outsource to associates - Natalie and Faye deliver the full service to all of our clients. ❤️ We donate to a French bulldog charity (FLOOF) every year and raise as much money as we can for them.
