The gender treatment gap (maybe I should trademark this?!) Question for my network, why are male employees treated differently to female employees when it comes to bullying at work? Some of the examples I have seen recently suggest that men are still being told to "man up" at work, and yes, this is with the support of their internal managers and HR. HR needs to be accountable for the actions of their managers and hold their behaviour to account. Just because women are the instigators, doesn't mean that they should be treated differently to their male counterparts. Welcome to 2025! We are kicking off the year by running through the key employment law changes that business owners need to know in 2025 - let's get into it! January: - New rules for rolled-up holiday pay - 25% uplift on protective awards for non-compliance with dismissal code April brings new statutory rates: - National Living Wage rising to £12.21 (21+) - National Minimum Wage increasing to £10.00 (18-20) - Enhanced statutory payments including sick pay and maternity pay Other significant changes: - Neonatal care leave and pay launching (April) - New bereavement paternity leave rights - Real Living Wage deadline: £12.60 UK / £13.85 London (May) Looking further ahead... The Employment Rights Bill (introduced October 2024) promises major reforms for 2026, covering enhanced rights, pay, time off, contracts, and workplace equality.
