The civil war in #Sudan continues to fuel a massive humanitarian disaster with 12 million people driven from their homes and and more than 24.6 million people experiencing high levels of acute food insecurity. Starvation and acute malnutrition is widespread.   Together with Humanitarian Academy for Development (HAD) and funded by FCDO Services via the H2H Network, RedR UK has been working with Sudanese first responders from national organisations, community-based organisations and Emergency Response Rooms to collaboratively identify and meet learning needs. The scale of need and the pressure on individuals and organisations to meet them in a complex operating environment is enormous. We aimed to better equip responders to meet this pressure by jointly identifying which of the challenges that they face can be addressed through increased knowledge and skills, and then worked with Sudanese and international experts and trainers to deliver targeted trainings.   As part of this, free training modules were delivered in Humanitarian Coordination, Needs Assessment, Project Planning, Accountability to Affected Populations, Introduction to Protection, and Personal Security. Modules were in Arabic and designed to make critical knowledge and information easily accessible.   "All the information provided was critical and broadened our understanding of the importance of planning and making advance scenarios with the team". (Staying Effective Participant) Read more about our work in Sudan https://lnkd.in/eHv4r4bc #humanitarinresponse #emergencyreponse

"The fourth point is to take into consideration the most vulnerable population, France committed to this topic in 2023, We signed our Call for the WASH Roadmap, in order to work on the improving on access to water, sanitation, healthcare in vulnerable areas and areas of conflict." - Emmanuel Macron 2.2 billion still live without safely managed drinking water and 3.5 billion without safely managed sanitation - a reality that you are at least 1.5 times more likely to experience if you live in fragile contexts. 💧 The WASH Roadmap, hosted by RedR, addresses this need by creating a unified, strategic framework that enhances coordination, innovation, and sustainability in humanitarian WASH responses. It unifies eight initiatives, providing a global call for action to prioritise and integrate WASH interventions into broader humanitarian efforts, ensuring life-saving access to clean water and sanitation. 💡 As the host of the WASH Roadmap Secretariat, RedR plays a pivotal role in shaping and advancing this global initiative, by fostering collaboration among stakeholders, facilitating knowledge sharing, and ensuring accountability. We were thrilled to see the project mentioned by French President Emmanuel Macron at the ONE Water Summit, and look forward to share further details about the work here. Swipe to see the video! 👏 This work wouldn't be possible without funding from the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and the collaboration between our key partners - ACTION CONTRE LA FAIM French Water Partnership German WASH Network, Centre for Affordable Water and Sanitation Technology (CAWST), REACH Initiative, @The London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM), ?Tufts University,@PRO WASH & SCALE. Supporting our Tunnels through Safety, Engineering & Standards

Last week's NCE Tunnelling Festival was a fabulous opportunity for many to share their thoughts, and celebrate their collaborations, innovations and successes. It was my pleasure to be able to judge and present, great to see Tony and Alan's entry for a really interesting system I'd seen earlier this summer, and heartening to see the visible support for RedR UK during the Awards Ceremony: thank you for having me!
