🌍 Advancing Earthquake Engineering and Offshore Wind Energy! 🌟
We are thrilled to share that Renew Risk Chief Scientist, Prof Subhamoy (Suby) Bhattacharya, recently attended and presented at the prestigious International Conference on Earthquake Engineering and Resilience hosted by the Institute of Engineering Mechanics, China Earthquake Administration.
This significant event, held in conjunction with the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Institute, brought together leading experts from around the globe to explore advancements in earthquake engineering and infrastructure resilience.
Prof. Bhattacharya had the distinct honour of co-presenting alongside esteemed colleagues in the field, such as:
Professor Nakashima, a distinguished figure in earthquake engineering, who after retiring from Kyoto University—one of Japan's top universities—now contributes his expertise at Kajima Corporation. Prof. Nakashima also serves as the President of the International Association for Earthquake Engineering (IAEEE).
Professor Tao Wang, Deputy Director of the China Earthquake Administration and a former student of Prof. Nakashima. Prof. Wang's leadership and contributions to the field are widely recognised, making his participation particularly impactful.
Together, they presented pioneering research on the seismic behaviour of offshore wind farms, a critical area of study given the increasing global shift towards renewable energy. Their presentation was part of a broader discussion on the impact of earthquakes on infrastructure, which included topics like seismic isolation, energy dissipation, and the latest technologies in disaster risk reduction.
The conference featured in-depth discussions on recent advances in earthquake engineering, strategies for improving infrastructure resilience, and innovative approaches to disaster risk management. Prof. Bhattacharya’s work, which continues to set benchmarks in understanding and mitigating seismic risks for offshore wind infrastructure, was highly recognized by his peers.
Prof. Bhattacharya's participation in this landmark event reaffirms our commitment at Renew Risk to leading the way in cutting-edge research and innovation. The insights and knowledge gained from this conference will be invaluable as we continue to develop resilient and sustainable energy solutions that can withstand the challenges posed by natural disasters.
We look forward to integrating these advanced concepts into our ongoing products.
Stay tuned for more updates.
