We're thrilled to share insights from our Executive Head, Gemma Williamson, who's been immersing herself in the vibrant world of primary schools every week. This hands-on approach truly embodies what the Roots Federation is all about – our passion for being in the field, actively seeking ways to enhance education for every child. The incredible learning experiences gained through visits to different schools highlight the power of collaboration and shared knowledge. This positive exchange is the cornerstone of our commitment to education. Interested in being a part of this collaborative journey? Whether you'd like to share your school's unique setting with us or explore what we have to offer, we'd love to connect. Let's learn and grow together! 🌱 #RootsFederation #EducationCollaboration #LearningTogether
Over recent weeks I have had the privilege to return to a primary school and work as a leader within their Early Years. Being a Executive Headteacher of a Federation of Nursery Schools is exciting and rewarding but holding close to that has to be where children will continue their education. Spending time every week back in the busy primary school environment has reminded me that children who attend Maintained Nursery Schools are so fortunate to have a team that is dedicated just to them. However, learning obtained from my experience now has allowed me to remind and inform our team about Reception baselines, shared playgrounds and what amends we need to make to our practice for staff and children to be ready for the next stage. This time has allowed me to reflect and shape the future for children in our Federation but also support a school in improving and shaping their curriculum to ensure children get the strong Foundation they deserve and need. #EarlyYearsEducation #PrimaryEducation #LeadershipInEducation #EducationalLeadership #EducationalImprovement #ChildCentredLearning

Insightfully highlighted by one of our Executive Headteachers Gemma Williamson, the growing need for personalised educational support for children is more critical than ever. The report from Dingley’s Promise underscores the challenges faced, particularly for children with SEND, who are too often turned away due to resource constraints. This issue calls for change to ensure providers can establish inclusive environments where every child's unique path to learning is respected and nurtured. Let's rally together to make sure that labels do not limit opportunities and that all children receive the support they deserve! 👉 Take a look at our 'Supporting SEND Learners' consultancy package, crafted to assist mainstream educational settings in enhancing their SEND provision and ensuring adults are confident to support within the classroom and beyond. https://lnkd.in/egk-7PZB
During recent weeks I have been reading about the growing need of children within education. There is extensive reading about different ways to support children and what best practice looks like but it made me realise no book or guide reflects an individual child. The provision for each child must be reflective of them and their challenges. However, I came across something which really upset me, not because it was new information that I hadn’t heard before but because it is written in black and white. ‘A rising number of children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) are being turned away from early years settings as providers struggle to cope with a growing “tsunami of need”, new research from SEND organisation Dingley’s Promise has found.’ The EYFS has always been about the unique child, so why does a different way of learning or varied approach mean a child should be turned away. Just because they have a label! This is not right nor fair and action needs to be taken to support these providers to establish provision that will support each and every child irrelevant of whether they have a label.. A colleague once said to me ‘labels are for jars not children’. A statement I return to often and one that is now potentially standing in front of opportunities for children. Change needs to happen to empower people to embrace challenge and support families and children now. #SEND #EarlyYearsEducation #InclusiveEducation #EqualityInEducation #SupportForChildren #EducationForAll #BreakingBarriers #EmpowerChildren #EducationChange

Great insights shared here! 🌟 Bridget Phillipson's focus on poverty and holistic support in education is a timely reminder of the deeper, systemic challenges our schools face. How can we as educators, leaders, and communities work together to foster environments where every child can truly thrive? Share your thoughts
🌟 A Fresh Perspective on Education’s Real Challenges 🌟 I had the pleasure of hearing Bridget Phillipson speak at the CST conference this morning. It was refreshing to hear such an honest perspective on the challenges facing our education system. Last year, Gillian Keegan shared valuable insights on strengthening post-16 education—a critical area, no doubt. However, she made no reference one of the most pervasive barriers education faces: poverty. Today Bridget Phillipson directly addressed the negative impact of poverty on achievement and emphasised the need for a holistic support system that tackles inequality at its core. Her messages on thriving and belonging especially resonated with me, highlighting the importance of creating environments where every child and family feels valued and supported. Great to hear leaders in education engaging in discussions and investing in initiatives to tackle the real, underlying challenges. Here’s hoping that the government will support schools in bringing lasting, meaningful change for our schools and families. 👏 👏👏 #Education #CSTConference #Leadership #EducationalEquity #Funding #Belonging
