We've launched a major new exercise to secure our supply chain partners to deliver our investment in vital water and waste water infrastructure spanning our next two regulatory periods. With a forecast value range between £5bn and £9bn covering 2027-33 with potential to extend to 2039, it's our largest ever procurement. Successful firms will form a new enterprise with Scottish Water's teams to build resilient services and assets - essential to keeping our taps flowing and waste water being cleaned effectively - designed to last well into the future. Capital Investment Director Rob Mustard is leading the programme and you can read the full story here: https://lnkd.in/ezJkMk3F

Scottish Water has secured the Fair Tax Mark – for the fifth year in a row – highlighting our long-term commitment to operating ethically, fairly & transparently. The Fair Tax Foundation assessed our corporate tax conduct & public reporting & described it as ‘exemplary’ giving it the Gold standard. The Fair Tax Mark is an independent accreditation scheme assessed annually, which recognises organisations which demonstrate they are paying the right amount of corporation tax in the right place & at the right time.

🌳 It's National Tree Week! 🌳 We have lots of exciting woodland creation work going on just now, including a partnership with Rhizocore Technologies to trial the use of innovative fungal pellets which aim to produce more resilient forests, increase carbon capture potential and reduce the need for fertiliser. The use of the pellets, which are planted alongside saplings and help provide water and nutrients to the trees, have been shown to: 🍃 Increase the survival rate of saplings 🍃Maximise tree growth 🍃Eliminate need for fertiliser 🍃Increase carbon sequestration rates of woodland soil READ MORE: https://lnkd.in/eKgMBXup #netzero #woodlandcreation #innovation Alex Plant Gillian Martin Mark Williams Elise Cartmell Steve Garbett Net Zero Scotland

A groundbreaking milestone for green energy! We've completed an innovative hydro energy scheme in East Lothian - believed to be the first of its kind in Europe! ⚡ This pioneering £3 million siphon-fed hydro project is making waves by: ✅ Offsetting around 30% of the energy used by the local Pumping Station. ✅ Generating 0.82 GWh of green energy annually - enough to power 200 homes. ✅ Saving 111 tonnes of carbon each year - equal to 40 flights from Edin to Sydney. PLUS we’ve been shortlisted for the British Hydropower Association's Innovation Award – fingers crossed for the results! 🤞 A huge thank you to our incredible teams, Emtec Energy, AECOM, Dulas Ltd, OSSBERGER GmbH + Co. KG and EDWARDS DIVING SERVICES LIMITED for making this possible. 💚 👉 Read more: j1l.in/lgT2ix #Renewables #Innovation #HydroEnergy #ClimateAction Donald MacBrayne Neil Beaumont Ian Piggott Stuart Clark MSc MIES Scottish Water Jane Chilton

A family of beavers has been relocated to the Cairngorms National Park from our Glenfarg Water Treatment Works, which is due to undergo a major £114m upgrade. The construction works would have seriously disturbed the beavers’ habitat, and as they are apparently stubborn critters they would not have moved on. 🦫🦫 With expert advice and support from The Beaver Trust, the animals have been relocated to their new home. See how we did it, and how they have settled into their new des res. 👀🎬 More info ➡️: https://lnkd.in/ee-pvGwS Beaver Trust Cairngorms National Park Authority Gillian Martin Simon Parsons Deirdre Michie OBE Alex Plant

#BeWinterWise – Please keep a safe distance from ANY open water. Winter waters are very dangerous & it can be tempting to play on the ice formed on open water, but please don't test it. It may look sturdy, but it can crack unexpectedly & cold water can send your body into shock, in seconds. Please admire from afar & #StaySafe this winter. 🥶❄️ Advice at: https://lnkd.in/ePEMwiBY

🌿 Making a difference in our communities 🌿 Last week, a number of Scottish Water volunteers rolled up their sleeves and joined forces with representatives of Douglas Community Spaces Group (DCSG), the RSPB, Urban ReLeaf and Dundee City Council to carry out maintenance work at Douglas Community Park - the focus of a community partnership which aims to provide a diverse green space for people of all ages, while also helping to reduce the risk of flooding in the local area via a number of drainage features. Together, the team cleared inlets and outlets to ensure the park drainage was working effectively, as well as weeding, grass cutting and general tidying of the space. Big thanks to the Douglas Community Centre for helping provide volunteers with hot cups of tea throughout the day! #volunteering #communitypartnership #bluegreeninfrastructure #SUDS #Dundee #urbandrainage
