Michael Shanks MP, UK Energy Minster, visited our Sloy Power Station located on the banks of Loch Lomond and was provided with a tour from colleagues including our Director of Hydro Robert Bryce. Mr Shanks was shown around the power station and the dam which is located at Loch Sloy 4km away but 277 metres higher than the station. ⛰️   At a generation capacity of 152.5 MW, Sloy is Britain’s largest conventional hydro power plant, and has been generating clean green power for over 70 years. ⚡   During the visit, our teams spoke about our plans to adapt Sloy to a pumped storage scheme allowing the station to take excess energy from the grid and use it to pump water from Loch Lomond to the upper Loch Sloy, where it would be stored before being released to power the grid when wind output is low.  💧   Pumped storage schemes like the Sloy redevelopment are crucial for the energy mix and ensuring government clean targets can be achieved. 📈 Watch the video below to find out more about the project. 👇

We have published our Q3 Trading Statement. This Trading Statement updates on expectations for 2024/25 full-year earnings, as well as strategic progress and operational performance for the period ending 31 December 2024. Here are the highlights: ☑️ Renewables output up 26% year-on-year for the first three quarters, reflecting the impact from capacity additions and variable weather conditions ☑️ The drive to clean power continues to gather pace, including publication of SSEN Transmission’s RIIO-T3 Business Plan ☑️ 2024/25 full-year adjusted earnings per share expected to be between 154 – 163 pence 🔗 Read the full statement: https://lnkd.in/etDkBuiS

A significant ramp-up in investment needs to be unlocked if the government is to achieve its 2030 clean power target. We all need to take steps to tackle the climate emergency.
