  • To everyone balancing caring for parents and work, who is feeling unheard - YOU ARE NOT ALONE. To raise awareness of the challenges faced by the Sandwich Generation, I shared my story with the Yorkshire Evening Post. Managing care for my mum with Alzheimer’s, raising three children, all while working in a national senior role in the NHS, highlighted the huge challenges many of us face. Your voice is heard. • 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗳𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗵𝗿𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗺𝗮𝘀 𝘀𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗯𝗲 𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝘁𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵. 𝗪𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝘂𝗻, 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗿𝘀’ 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗱𝗼𝗻’𝘁 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗽. This powerful reminder is highlighted in a new Christmas song recorded by young carers and Edward Davey, who recalls singing in the church choir while caring for his mother who had cancer. [Listen to the song here: https://lnkd.in/e82ZMnsh] His song shines a light on the experiences of all carers, particularly during the festive season, when many feel the weight of balancing caring with other responsibilities. It’s a reminder that caring comes with no time off, whether you're a young carer or someone caring for a parent or elderly relative. As the festive season gets underway, it's so important to recognise the ongoing pressure on those balancing work, family life, and caring for loved ones. Supporting carers year-round, not just during the holidays, is essential for their wellbeing. If you’re unsure how to better support your staff who are juggling these responsibilities, let’s have a conversation. 👉 DM me to book a free 30-minute consultation on how to start supporting carers in your workplace. #SandwichGeneration #SupportingCarers #WorkLifeBalance #CarersTrust #YoungCarers #GratefulForCaregivers #CarersUK #CarerSupport #YoungCarersUK #CarersRights #CareInTheUK #CarerAwareness #CaringAtChristmas #CaregivingCommunity

  • 𝗪𝗲'𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝗽!!!!! Today the government launched its 𝙂𝙚𝙩 𝘽𝙧𝙞𝙩𝙖𝙞𝙣 𝙒𝙤𝙧𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙒𝙝𝙞𝙩𝙚 𝙋𝙖𝙥𝙚𝙧, and I’m thrilled to see it recognises the need for more employer support for those balancing work with caring responsibilities, particularly "women often caring for elderly relatives, who have huge experience to offer employers but far too few opportunities." One of the key areas highlighted is how vital it is for employers to support employees in these roles. The paper acknowledges that many carers face significant barriers to staying in or returning to employment, despite the skills and expertise they bring to the workforce. This focus is crucial for organisations looking to retain diverse talent and create a more inclusive, supportive workplace. With millions of carers managing both work and caring duties, it’s essential for employers to offer the flexibility and resources that help them succeed. If you’re interested in learning how you can better support carers in your organisation, get in touch – DM or sherry@sherryking.co.uk And to read the White Paper go to: https://lnkd.in/eM7kac2d #GetBritainWorking #EmployerSupport #CarersInWork #WorkplaceInclusion #SupportingCarers #WorkplaceFlexibility #ReturnToWork #EmployeeWellbeing #WorkLifeBalance #CarersMatter #InclusiveWorkplace #DiversityAndInclusion #SupportingEmployees #CaregiversAtWork #GovernmentPolicy #EmploymentSupport #EmployeeRetention

Partnering with Organisations to Support Employees Caring for Parents or Elderly Relatives | Employee Wellbeing Expert | Trainer | Coach | Consultant

𝑴𝒂𝒏𝒂𝒈𝒆𝒓𝒔 𝑻𝒐𝒑 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑷𝒐𝒍𝒍! I recently ran a poll asking: What would make the biggest difference in supporting colleagues balancing work with caring for parents or elderly relatives? 🥁 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐨𝐩 𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐰𝐞𝐫?........ 👉 Having an understanding manager would make the biggest difference. As someone who's been in the position of balancing work and caring, I know firsthand just how crucial it is to have a manager that understands. Research from the Workforce Institute at UKG shows that 70% of employees feel their manager impacts their mental health as much as—or even more than—their GP, therapist, or partner. This makes sense when you think about it: Managers are often the first line of support for employees dealing with challenges at home, and their understanding and support can have a huge impact on wellbeing. If you’re interested in learning how to be that supportive manager or want to find out more about my half-day, in-person workshop, DM me or visit https://lnkd.in/eA_GiEpe for details. #SandwichGeneration #EmployeeWellbeing #ManagerTraining #WorkplaceWellbeing #CaringResponsibilities

They are so much more than comments—they’re a glimpse into the invisible struggles so many people are carrying while trying to juggle work and care for their parents, often without getting the support they desperately need. It’s truly heartbreaking to think that people in these situations feel they’ve not been seen or heard. This is why I’m so passionate about the work I do. Partnering with organisations to raise awareness, offer training, and provide real solutions can make a huge difference to those who feel isolated in their experiences, caring for parents or elderly relatives. Let's get the word out. No one should have to choose between their job and caring for their family. 👉 DM or email (sherry@sherryking.co.uk) if you’d like to learn more about how I can help support your employees and develop a workplace culture that values understanding and compassion for carers at its core—or if you or someone you know is caring for parents and looking for emotional or practical support. #SandwichGeneration #Caregiving #SupportForCarers #WorkLifeBalance #EmployeeWellbeing

In the session, we shared practical advice and raised awareness about the real impact caring has on mental health, work-life balance and overall wellbeing. It was really interactive, featuring honest conversations and personal stories—everyone left feeling more understood and supported.
