💡 Brilliant tips here from Emily Murphy 💡 Thanks for chatting with us and sharing your insights and advice on creating an inclusive singing strategy!
Such a pleasure to chat to Baz Chapman at the Sing Up Foundation yesterday about our Autistic Youth Choir and Sutton Music Trusts journey to creating an inclusive singing strategy. Baz asked me for my top tips for any hubs looking to develop a more inclusive singing strategy: 💪🏻 Be brave 💪🏻 Identify the gaps in your vocal provision and don’t be afraid to address them due to your own fears/inexperience in a particular area. 🙋🏻♀️ Find others to be brave with you! 🙋🏻♀️ Work with colleagues who are willing to take a risk even if they have no/little experience in the area but are open to learning more and developing their skillset. 🤝 Utilise partnerships 🤝 Find partners that have the experience needed to move the project forward. We were incredibly fortunate to draw on the expertise of the Autism Team at Cognus Limited who supported and championed our new choir. Thanks to all of the colleagues who have supported this venture, it’s been a really rewarding experience and our choir continues to go from strength to strength.
