What an incredible day at #SAAShow! Rebecca presented Solihull Approach ideas and principles around understanding children’s development, containment and the parallel process for staff in schools and we got to join a community of passionate leaders creating nurturing, inclusive cultures in schools that are set to make positive impact for our young people. We are looking forward to working more closely with partners and schools to raise emotional health in the UK. About us
The Solihull Approach is a team of professionals within the National Health Service in the UK. We work with practitioners and parents to develop new resources to support emotional health and wellbeing in children, families, adults and older adults. Dr Hazel Douglas MBE originally developed the model whilst working with a team of health visitors, child and adolescent mental health services and families, then moving to include social services and education practitioners and many more. The Solihull Approach model is now used in most areas of the UK with many projects across the world, applied from midwives, health visitors, family workers, foster carers, social workers and teachers to firefighters and prison officers and in homes, hospitals, clinics, companies, schools and prisons.

💙How do you support dads to look after their health and wellbeing? 💤Especially in the early days of fatherhood when interrupted sleep is to be expected? As dad, James, told us - utilising the network around families to provide support is important! Dads and partners don't need to navigate this season alone, but can be supported by services that take into account the entire family unit. Do you work for a charity or service that helps dads in particular? Let us know in the comments below 👇 #dadsmentalhealth #mentalhealth #movember

Dads' wellbeing is important💙 As dad, James, discussed with us, parents will likely find that "being there for each other mentally is really key" to supporting health and wellbeing in parenthood. One way parents can do this is through ✨CONTAINMENT✨ This is the process where one partner is able to share how they are feeling, and the other partner is able to feed back to them their feelings in small manageable chunks to help them process those thoughts. Therefore restoring the partner's capacity to think. This is one of the theories that underpins the Solihull Approach model. Have you used containment in your relationships? Whether at home or in the workplace? Comment below 👇 #containment #dads #movember #dadsmentalhealth
